A Troyella Story

Here is all of the Troyella Stories

"And then what happened?" Gabriella Montez asked Troy Bolton.
"She said that she had met someone else." Troy replied sadly.
Gabriella was in Troy's room on Friday night, discussing the latest drama in Troy's love life. There was always a small drama going on but that was bcause Troy, with his blonde hair, blue eyes and basketball-player physique, was very attractive and basically no girl could resist him! Except from Gabriella of course, who'd been Troy's best friend since the start of school and did not see him in a "boyfriend" kind of way.
Gabriella sat down next to Troy. "Oh Troy, I'm sorry." she said.
"Don't be," Troy gave a weak smile. "It's just that... Nah, never mind."
"Tell me!" Gabriella looked at him, worryingly. It wasn't like Troy to talk about his deepest feelings.
"Well, it's just that all my relationships last less than two months! I just want one long-term relationship with a girl who I can spoil, show-off and talk to properly!" he stood up and walked over to the window.
'Aww, I feel so bad for him,' Gabriella thought to herself. 'That was surprisingly sweet of him to say that!' She stood up, walked over to Troy and gave him a hug.
"Hey," she said when she pulled back. "At least you're in relationships! I think guys just, see right through me!"
Troy smiled. "Aww, Gabs, there's plenty of guys who like you! Josh - that new guy in the basketball team - thinks you're hot. Want me to arrange something?"
Gabriella laughed. "Maybe. We'll see how it goes." she said. She glanced at her watch. "I should go. I promised my Mom I'd wash the dishes for her and I haven't done it yet!" she grabbed her bag and walked to the door.
"Bye," Troy said. "And thanks for coming over and listening to me being such a girl!"
Gabriella laughed again. "Oh you are not a girl! You're not pretty enough!" She ran out of the room giggling and Troy heard her leave the house. He smiled. It was cool to have a friend like Gabby.

A Troyella Story - Chapter 1 Continued.

That night, Gabriella logged off of the computer and brushed her long, dark brown hair. "Goodnight Mom!" She called to her mother who was watching the television. She waited for her mom to shout back, then got into bed, closed her eyes and fell asleep...

Troy and Gabriella were on a beach somewhere. They were sitting close and Troy was talking to Gabriella.
"I just want one girl to spoil, show-off and be able to talk to properly." He was saying.
Gabriella smiled at the sweetness of his words and he wriggled closer to her. She looked in his eyes, surprised as he took her hands and then looked in her eyes back.
"And I want you to be that girl Gabby."
"Me?" Gabriella asked in disbelief. She waited for the words to sink in then started moving closer to Troy. Troy smiled and brushed her hair out of her eyes, carressing her cheek as she did so. They leaned closer and closer and just as their lips were about to meet, a shrill beeping noise ruined the moment.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. It was Gabriella's alarm clock, announcing that a new day had begun. She sat up in bed, shocked at what she had dreamed.
'Woah!' she thought. 'Do I like Troy Bolton?'

‘Don’t be so stupid!’ Gabby told herself firmly. ‘You don’t love Troy, he’s your best friend!’
She sighed and got out of bed to get ready.

Meanwhile in Troy’s room, he was already dressed and bored. He picked up the phone and dialed Gabriella’s number.
“Hello?” Gabriella answered.
“Hey,” Troy said cheerfully. “How are you?”
“Tired.”
“Does that mean you don’t wanna come to the mall with me?”
“Noo! I wanna come! I need some new shoes!”
“I don’t want to make it a girly trip!” Troy protested.
“Get over it Troy!” Gabriella laughed, “I’ll get some shoes and then we’ll go to the video game store to make you happy. Deal?”
“Deal.” Troy grinned. “I’ll pick you up in half an hour.”

About an hour later, Troy was already bored as Gabriella tried on her sixth pair of shoes.
“What about these Troy?” she asked him, studying her feet.
“Huh? Oh yeah, they’re nice.” He replied.
“Nice? Really? Do they make my ankles look fat?” Gabby asked worriedly.
“Your ankles? No, they look nice too.” Troy said whilst wondering why girls are so paranoid about their looks. He didn’t notice Gabriella blush when he gave her that small compliment. Gabriella felt her cheeks go red and furiously tried to calm herself down.
“I think I’ll just get these ones,” She said, holding up the third pair she had tried on. “They go with my purple top with the silver design.”
“That’s great,” Troy said relieved. “Does that mean we can go to the video game store now?”
Gabriella laughed. “You are such a guy! Yes, we can go as soon as we pay for these!”
Troy grinned. “Thank God. If you had made one more comment about your ankles I would have broken them!”
They laughed and began walking over to the cash desk when suddenly-
“Hey Troy! Hey Gabriella!”
They turned around to see Sharpay Evans, East High’s it-girl making her way over to them. Sharpay had never really spoken to Gabriella but it was rumored that she had a big crush on Troy.

A Troyella Story - Chapter 2 Continued

“Oh hey Sharpay!” Troy smiled.
“Hi.” Gabriella said.
Sharpay beamed and stopped in front of them.
“So what are you guys up to?” she said, looking at Troy.
“Gabriella was just getting some shoes.” He said, smiling back at her.
“Me too!” smiled Sharpay, still looking at Troy
‘Woah, is it just me or is there some serious chemistry going on there?’ thought Gabriella.
“Huh Gabriella?” Troy said.
Gabriella snapped back to earth and looked at Troy.
“Sorry, what?” she said apologetically.
“Sharpay was asking if we want to come with her to get a coffee?” Troy said, still smiling at Sharpay
‘No, I don’t actually. I want it just to be me and you!’ Gabriella thought, surprising herself. But instead of saying that out loud, she said simply, “Sure.”.
“Great!” Sharpay smiled and flicked her long blonde hair. The group waited in the queue to pay for Gabby’s shoes, but it was a long queue and they began to get bored. Troy, who noticed Sharpay getting impatient and didn’t want her to leave said, “Hey Gabs, do you mind if Shar and I go get a seat at Starbucks and you can meet us there once you’ve paid?”
Gabriella did mind of course, but she nodded for them to go ahead. Sharpay looked properly at Gabriella and gave her a grateful nod. About fifteen minutes later, Gabriella paid for her shoes and made her way to Starbucks where she found Troy sitting alone.
“Where’s Sharpay?” she asked.
“Oh, she had to leave.” Troy replied cheerfully.
“What’s got you so happy all of a sudden?” she smiled.
“Sharpay and I are going to dinner tomorrow! I think Sharpay could be the one!”
“The one?” Gabby asked, shocked.
“No! I meant the one I have a long-term relationship with!”
Gabby suddenly felt like she had been punched in the stomach.
‘Okay, what is going on?’ she thought and stood up. “I have to go,” she said to Troy. “Bye!”
Troy looked confused as Gabriella ran out of the shop and rushed to the elevator, completely forgetting about the bag of shoes.

Later that night, Gabriella was in her room with another one of her best friends, Taylor. They were discussing Gabriella’s sudden weirdness around Troy.
“And how did you feel when Troy told you about Sharpay being the one he could stay with for a long time?” Taylor asked.
“I don’t know how to describe it!” Gabriella moaned. “Tay, I think I’m in love with him!”
“WHAT?” Taylor exclaimed. “With Troy? Your best friend since 1st grade??”
“Yes. It all started last night with that stupid dream! It’s made me look at him in a completely different way!” Gabriella put her head in her hands.
Taylor put her arm around Gabby. “What are you gonna do?” she asked.
“Well I can’t tell him.” Said Gabriella. “It will completely ruin the friendship! And I really don’t want to loose him!”
“But that means you’ll have to act normal around him. No more running out on him at Starbucks!”
Gabby gave a weak smile. Taylor smiled back and suddenly, the phone rang, startling them.
“Hello?” Gabriella said into the phone.
“Hey Gabs! It’s Troy! I was just wondering if everything was OK?”
“Oh hey,” Gabby said. “Sorry about running out on you… I wasn’t feeling well.”
“Okay. You forgot your shoes.” Said Troy.
“Oh right! My shoes! I’ll get them tomorrow.”
“Do you want me to bring them by now? I’m out anyway.” Troy asked.
“Umm… sure, that would be great.” Gabby said. She and Troy hung up and Gabby turned to Taylor.
“Ohmigosh Tay! He’s coming over! Right now! What do I do, what do I do?!”
“Gabriella! Calm down! It’s just Troy! Act normal!” Taylor said.
“I can’t!” Gabriella moaned.
“I’m gonna go now anyway,” Taylor said. “Call me as soon as he leaves!”

Twenty minutes later there was a knock on Gabriella’s bedroom door and Gabriella rushed to open it.
“Hey Troy!” she said brightly and then her smile faded. Right behind Troy stood Sharp

A Troyella Story - Chapter 3 Continued.

Troy smiled and walked in. He sat on the bed and Sharpay followed.
“Hey Gabs! Here’s your shoes.” He handed her the hot pink bag.
“Thanks.” Gabriella took it and sat down opposite them on a chair.
“We have news!” Troy smiled. He took Sharpay’s hand. “We’re officially dating!”
Sharpay nodded and beamed.
Gabriella felt immediately sick. Determined to act normal though, she forced a smile on her face.
“Wow!” she said. “That’s just… Wow! I’m happy for you guys.”
“Thanks,” Troy said happily. He glanced at Sharpay who was smiling too.

Later that night, after “Troypay” had gone home, Gabriella got into bed and tried to make sense of everything that had happened.
‘I can’t believe it!’ she thought. ‘I realize I’m in love with Troy and as soon as I find out he starts dating Sharpay Evans! Who only cares about herself! I could scream!’
Gabriella flung the covers over her head and began to sleep.

Over the next few weeks Troy began seeing much more of Sharpay and much less of Gabriella. He wasn’t sure that was totally his fault though, because it really seemed that Gabriella was avoiding him. He wondered what had gone wrong between them because he started to realize that he missed her. A lot.

15 Comments Until Chapter 5. :]

It had been three weeks since Gabriella and Troy had last spoken properly. Troy was still dating Sharpay and Gabby was still single. One day, in the locker-room after a basketball game, Troy overheard Josh Parker, a guy on the basketball team talking about Gabriella.
“I went out with her last night!” he bragged with a smirk.
“Where did you take her?” Jason asked.
“Chez Robert.”
“Woah! Fancy!” Chad exclaimed. “I hope she was worth it!”
“Oh, she was! That kiss was awesome!”
Troy began feeling weird. He jumped into the conversation.
“You guys kissed?”
“Yeah.” Josh smiled.
“Are you guys dating?” he asked, feeling sick.
“Not officially. But if tonight goes well then I’m gonna ask her to be my girlfriend.”
Troy nodded and gave Josh a weak smile. He put his shirt on and left.

“You kissed him?!” Taylor exclaimed.
“Yes. And I don’t know why! I didn’t even have fun on the date!” Gabriella moaned.
“You don’t like Josh? He’s so hot!” Taylor asked.
“Yeah, I know he is… but all I could think about was Troy.” Gabriella put her head in her hands.
“Aww Gabby.” Taylor put her arm around Gabby’s shoulders. “You have to get over him. I know it’s hard but he obviously doesn’t feel the same way as you.”
“I know!” A tear rolled down Gabriella’s cheek. “But I miss him. I haven’t spoke to him in a month!”
“Nothing is stopping you from talking to him… Just keep yourself busy and date other guys. Anything could happen Gabs.”

‘Oh, I can’t take anymore of this!’ Troy slumped down in his seat and tried to not concentrate on Mrs Darbus’ English lesson. Feeling bored he brought out his phone and went to play a game. Suddenly, another phone in the class began to ring. Troy glanced down at his phone. He had pushed the wrong button!
‘Oh, no!’ Gabriella thought in a panic. ‘That’s my phone!’
She dived into her bag in an attempt to turn it off.
“Gabriella Montez.” Mrs Darbus was standing right in front of her. “

A Troyella Story - Chapter 4 continued.

“Detention.” The teacher said, looking at her disapprovingly.
Gabriella nodded and looked down.
Mrs. Darbus glanced around the room and suddenly spotted Troy, slumped in his chair clutching a cell phone too.
“And Mr Bolton,” she said walking over to him. “That will be an hour’s detention for you as well.” She walked back to her desk, ready to carry on with the rest of her lesson.
Troy slapped himself on the head – he had basketball practice that afternoon.

After school, Gabriella was already there when Troy walked into Mrs Darbus’ classroom, ready to start his detention.
Troy didn’t want to look at Gabriella. He didn’t understand what he felt when Josh was bragging about his date, but it made him feel uncomfortable.
“Where’s Darbus?” he mumbled, avoiding her gaze.
“She left. We’ve to copy out what’s written on the board twenty times.” Gabriella said avoiding his gaze too.
“Where did she go?”
“Who knows. Probably to a Worlds Most Boring Teacher Convention.” Gabby sighed. “Also known as WMBTC.”
Troy laughed and looked at Gabriella properly. She stood up and smiled back at him.
“Where have you been Montez?” he grinned.
“More like where have you been?” she smiled.
Troy held out his arms and pulled Gabriella close.
“I’ve missed you.” She said simply.
Troy couldn’t answer. He had butterflies in his tummy and the smell of Gabriella’s hair was making his knees go weak.
‘Come on Bolton, be a man!’ he thought to himself.
“Yeah, I’ve missed you too.” He said and stepped back.
Gabriella smiled.

That night, Troy sat on his bed, a tornado of emotions running through him.
‘I think I might like Gabriella’ he thought. ‘She probably won’t even like me back! We’re just friends and nothing will ever happen!’
Troy glanced around the room and rested on a framed photo of himself and Sharpay, smiling at the beach, each holding an ice-cream cone.
‘Besides,’ Troy thought to himself. ‘I have Sharpay now and Gabriella has that stupid Josh guy.’ He rested his head on his hands. ‘God, I wish she was here right now.’

The next day, Gabriella walked into school herself and began making her way towards her locker.
“Hey Baby!” Josh suddenly appeared in front of her, smiling.
Gabriella gave him a weak smile. Josh was nice and everything, he just wasn’t Troy.
“Hi.” She said.
Josh put his arm around her shoulders and began walking her to her locker.
“So I was thinking,” he smiled. “That tonight we should go to the party that Chad is throwing?”
“Sure!” Gabriella said, perking up a bit because Troy would be there – Troy and Chad had been good friends since forever!
“Great.” Josh smiled and leaned in closer. Suddenly, as his lips met Gabriella’s, Troy turned the corner and caught them kissing.
It was like Troy’s heart and been pulled out, tortured, and then put back in again. He stood there, unable to move, watching the couple kiss. He watched as Josh pulled back, caught sight of Troy, raised his eyebrows and smirked to say “I’m the man, right?”
Gabriella turned around to see who Josh was smiling at and caught sight of Troy. She smiled at him and then walked off with Josh as the bell rang.

In English class, Troy decided he couldn’t take it anymore. He ripped off a sheet of paper and began writing a note to Gabriella.

Hey Gabs!
Can we meet up before the party tonight?
JTroy.

It wasn’t long before Gabriella scribbled back.

me out to dinner.
I’ll see you there though!
Gabby xox

Troy sank down in his seat, defeated.

That night, Gabriella was waiting for Josh in the living room when she had a phone call.
“Hello?” she said, picking up the phone.
“It’s Josh.” A voice at the other end said.
“You’re late! I made reservations for 7 and it’s now 20 past!”
“Gabriella, I can’t make it tonight, I’m sorry.”
“What? Why?”
“I failed maths and chemistry and my Mom is making me stay home and study.”
“Okay. See you tomorrow.” She hung up the phone and sighed loudly.
‘Now, who am I going to the party with?’ she thought. ‘It’s uncool to show up by yourself.’

Meanwhile at Sharpay’s house, Troy was sitting on the bed watching a frantic Sharpay pick an outfit.
“I have NOTHING to wear!” Sharpay moaned.
Troy glanced at a huge pile of clothes that were lying on the bed and a the full wardrobe behind her.
“Don’t give me that look Troy!” Sharpay cried. “Just help me for God’s sake!”
“Sharpay! It’s only an outfit! Calm down!”
“Only an outfit?! Do you even know me?”
“What’s wrong with that dress?”
“It’s so last season Troy!”
“No-one cares what you wear!”
“I care!” Sharpay screamed. She was stressed and seriously out of control.
“That makes one of us!”
Troy, don’t just sit there!”
“Sharpay, we’re running late! The party starts at 8 and it’s now quarter to! We’re never gonna make it in time so would you please just pick out a goddamn outfit so that we can leave? You’re being such a drama queen!”
“Get out Troy! You’re being such a guy and I don’t want to be around you at the moment!”
“And you’re being such a spoiled brat!” Troy left the room and stormed out of the house.
‘Great!’ Thought Troy. ‘Now, I don’t have a date for the party!’

I know I said 18 comments but I couldn’t wait to write more! :P

Gabriella began walking to the bus stop, depressed that she’d have to enter the party alone. It was 8 at night and the people waiting for a bus gave her a weird stare. She didn’t blame them. She was wearing a short green dress, her hair curled with a silver headband and strappy silver heels.
Suddenly, a car pulled up at the bus stop and she found herself staring at Troy.
“Hey! Where’s Josh?” he said looking confused.
“Home. Studying.” Gabriella said a little bitterly. “Where’s Sharpay?”
“We had a fight.” Troy said, sounding a little bitter himself. He noticed Gabriella shivering. “Get in the car Gabs, and don’t stand there freezing.”
Gabriella smiled and got in the car. They drove to the party, none of them really speaking.

“Hey guys!” Samantha, the birthday girl, opened the door and smiled at them. She suddenly looked confused. “Are you here… together?”
“No!” Troy stammered. “Sharpay and me had a fight and Josh is…”
“Studying.” Gabriella chipped in, her cheeks bright red.
Troy felt uncomfortable. They stepped in to find disco lights, a massive food table and extremely loud dance music.
“Hey man, whatsup?” Chad Danforth walked over and slapped Troy on the back. “No girlfriend tonight?”
“Not tonight.” Troy replied. He walked over to where the food was spread out and poured himself a glass of Coke.
Meanwhile, Gabriella was already pulled into the dance floor with Taylor McKessie and Kelsi Neilson. Troy watched as Gabriella danced, her eyes bright and her hair flying everywhere. She moved gracefully and Troy couldn’t take his eyes off her. He sighed and took a sip of his coke feeling seriously abandoned.
Suddenly Gabriella appeared before him, smiling.
“Come on Loner.” She took his hand and led him to the dancefloor. They began to dance and everyone watched – they moved really well together.

A Troyella Story - Chapter 6 Continued.

A couple of hours later, some people started leaving.
Samantha stood up to make an announcement.
“Right!” she grinned. “I’m bored of dancing! Lets play Spin The Bottle!”
So the group left over, pulled out a bottle and began to play.
Samantha kissed Chad, Chad kissed Taylor, Taylor kissed Jason, Jason kissed Kelsi and Kelsi gave Troy a quick peck.
Troy smiled weakly at Kelsi and reached over to spin the bottle.
Every girl in the room went silent – hey! Troy was one of the most gorgeous guys on the planet – and everyone suddenly looked at Gabriella who was the person the bottle stopped in front of.
‘Oh. My. God.’ Gabriella thought, her heart pounding. ‘Troy Bolton is gonna kiss me!’
‘Oh. My. God.’ Troy thought. ‘I get to kiss Gabriella Montez.
He stood up and began walking over to Gabriella slowly. Gabriella stood up to as he saw him approaching.
Troy looked into Gabriella’s big brown eyes looking completely dazed.
As he came closer, Gabriella took a quick glance at her best friends Taylor and Kelsi who looked both shocked and happy for their best friend.
She looked back into Troy’s eyes as he put one hand in her hair and the other around her waist. They both closed their eyes and leaned in closer and closer until their lips met softly.
Words couldn’t describe how troy felt at that very moment. It was like fireworks going off in every part of his body.
Gabriella felt as though she was floating.
Both of them could feel electricity running right through them.
It was as if no-one else was in the room. As Troy pulled back, Gabriella still had her eyes closed and it was as if Troy couldn’t move.

Suddenly the music started playing again and the moment was broken. Everyone who was left began talking again, a few people started dancing and a few guys started attacking the food table.
The only people who still remained were Troy and Gabriella trying to figure out what had just happened between them.
Gabriella took a deep breath and began to speak.
“Um. That was dramatic.” She muttered.
Troy smiled at her weakly.
“I gotta go to the… erm… bathroom.”
Troy watched as she took a few steps away, grabbed Taylor and Kelsi and then ran towards the bathroom.

Inside the bathroom, Gabriella was frantic.
“Ohmigod! Ohmigod! What the hell just happened?!”
“You kissed Troy.” Taylor said.
“No, Troy kissed her!” Kelsi said matter-of-factly.
“Either way, you guys kissed!” Taylor squealed. “How was it?!”
Gabriella was flushed and breathless. “I don’t know. It was… Incredible.”
Kelsi beamed and Taylor let out another squeal.
“Don’t be happy about this!” Gabriella cried. “We’ll probably never look at each other again!”
“Um... You’re being such a drama queen! Troy liked it! You liked it! Everything will be fine!” Kelsi insisted.

That night, Gabriella was one of the last people at the party because she had offered to help clean up. She put down the mop and picked up her bag.
“Gabriella!”
She turned around to find Troy walking over to her.
Troy! I thought you’d left.”
“No, I offered to help clean up the kitchen. Do you need a lift home?”
“Umm… Actually yes. I don’t really want to take a cab.”
Troy smiled. “Then let’s go.”
They said their goodbyes to Samantha, got in Troy’s car and began to drive.

A Troyella Story - Chapter 7 Continued

“I think we should talk about that kiss.” Troy said nervously and shyly.
“The kiss.” Gabriella repeated, feeling her cheeks flush.
“I don’t know what’s going on but… OH SHlT!” Troy cried.
Suddenly, there was a loud screech as Troy swerved the car to avoid a deer that had suddenly appeared on the road. Gabriella screamed as the car spun out of control and smashed against a large tree. Everything went dark and she sunk in her seat, unconscious.

Troy woke up to find himself in an uncomfortable position between the seat and the steering wheel of his car. He shook of the pain and wiped the blood from his cheek. Terrified, he glanced over at Gabriella who was silent and still in her seat.
“Gabriella?” Troy moved over and shook her limp body. “Gabriella! Wake up! Please?”
Suddenly Troy’s stomach lurched. He smelled smoke. It was heavy and it was making him drowsy. He turned around slowly to see a large fire erupting from the front of the car.
“Aw man!” He wiped the sweat from his forehead and tried to open the wrecked door. It only opened a little.
Troy took Gabriella’s body in his arms and quickly squeezed out the door of the car, just as the whole car burst into flames. To avoid the flames, Troy began running back to the motorway and lay Gabriella’s body down on the grass next to it. He took his mobile out of his pocket and began to dial for an ambulance.
“Hello, how may I help you?”
“I need an ambulance. I’m on the motorway route 10? In Albuquerque? There’s been a car accident. I’m OK but my friend… she’s unconscious!”
“Don’t panic Sir, we’ll send an ambulance straight away. What’s your name?”
“Troy Bolton.”
The operator said goodbye and it was then that Troy turned his full attention to Gabriella.

“Gabriella, please!” begged Troy, tears welling up in his eyes. “Wake up! Please Gabby!”
He grabbed her hand and used his other hand to snap his fingers in front of her face.
Gabriella stirred and began to speak but kept her eyes closed.
“T…Troy,” she whispered and held his hand tighter. “Troy, what happened?”
A tear rolled down Troy’s cheek. “Thank God you’re okay Gabs!”
The ambulance appeared and the paramedics encouraged Troy into the ambulance. They lifted Gabriella onto a stretcher and once in the ambulance, Troy immediately took Gabriella’s hand again. The operator had also sent a fire engine and the firefighters were working on the flaming car.
Gabriella stayed silent on the journey to the hospital, listening to Troy whisper encouraging words in her ear.

Once in the hospital, Gabriella and Troy were taken to different rooms.
“You don’t seem to have any injuries Mr Bolton,” said a doctor who was currently giving Troy’s cheek stitches. “Just some bad cuts and bruises.”
“What about Gabriella?” he asked.
“I’m sorry, I can’t tell you anything as you’re not family.”
“But...” Troy desperately wanted to know how she was. “I’m her boyfriend!”
“Oh well in that case, she doesn’t have any major injuries but she does have a minor concussion and a broken rib so she’ll have to stay here for a few days. You’re both extremely lucky Mr Bolton!”
At that moment, Mr and Mrs Bolton burst into the room. Mrs Bolton swept Troy in her arms sobbing.
“Oh Troy Baby!” she cried. “I was so worried.”
“Mom, let me go!” Troy moaned. “I’m fine!”
Mrs Bolton reluctantly let him go and Mr Bolton gave Troy a weak smile.
“Can I go see Gabriella?” Troy asked.
“Yes, that should be fine.” The doctor replied.
Troy ran out of the room to his parents confusion.

A Troyella Story - Chapter 8 Continued.

In Gabriella’s room, she was sitting up, awake and talking to a doctor whilst her Mom sat, holding her hand. Everyone looked up as Troy walked in and ran to hug Gabriella.
“I could kill you for worrying me like that!” He said.
“Troy you’re squashing me!” Gabriella smiled “But I promise I’ll try and not go unconscious the next time!” Troy laughed.
“Mr Bolton,” said the doctor. “Miss Montez has some slight burns. Could you explain those to me please?”
Troy sat down on the bed and told the doctor the whole story, explaining how he had gotten them both out of the car safely. The doctor scribbled it all down and Gabriella looked at Troy strangley.
“What?” he said.
“You saved my life Troy!” said Gabriella. She took his hand and squeezed it. Then, she leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Thank you for saving her Troy.” Mrs Montez smiled weakly. “It was really brave of you.”
“It was nothing,” Troy said bright red but mainly because of the kiss Gabriella had just gave him. “I just did what anyone would do!”
Gabriella smiled at him again then let out a yawn. “I’m really tired.” She said.
“Yes, you should get some sleep now.” The doctor said.
Troy’s parents heads appeared around the door. “Troy, we can go now.”
Troy nodded. “I’ll visit first thing tomorrow.” He promised Gabriella and let go of her hand.

That night, as Troy lay in bed, he knew exactly what he was going to do. He was going to break up with Sharpay and then confess his feelings to Gabriella.

At 8:00am, Troy walked into Gabriella’s room, surprised to find her already awake and looking over a magazine.
“Hey Troy!” she beamed, putting down the magazine.
“Hey,” he smiled. “How are you feeling?” He sat down on the bed beside Gabriella.
“I’m okay I think.” She smiled. “My rib hurts a little though.”
“I’m sorry.” Troy said, his gorgeous smile leaving his face. “I feel so guilty.”
Gabriella sat up so she was closer to Troy. “Guilty about what?” she asked, confused.
“The accident. It was all my fault.”
“No way Troy!” said Gabriella, shocked. “There was no way you could have avoided it!”
“I just keep thinking that I could have stopped the car differently to avoid you getting hurt.” He looked up into Gabriella’s eyes.
“Number one Troy,” she said. “It was the deers fault. Secondly, I’m not that badly hurt! And number three, you saved my life!” She put her head on his shoulder and rubbed his back. “Please don’t feel guilty.”
Troy looked at Gabriella and smiled. “I told you, saving your life was no big deal!” A thoughtful look came over his face. “On the other hand, I guess you could call me a hero!” he said with a twinkle in his eyes.
“Ahh, you’re definitely my hero!” Gabriella fluttered her eyelashes jokingly. “Thank you Troy-Man!”
Troy laughed at Gabriella’s cheesy acting. Gabriella laughed too. Gabriella’s laughing stopped as she looked in Troy’s blue eyes. Troy stopped laughing too and began to lean in slowly. Gabriella also began to lean in. Then, just as their lips were about to meet…

“Gabby! We came as soon as we-“ Taylor stopped talking as she saw how close Troy and Gabriella’s lips were to touching. Gabriella turned bright red and quickly pulled back and smiled at Taylor and Kelsi who were standing in the doorway.

“Umm, are we interrupting something?” Kelsi asked awkwardly.
“No! No,” Troy stammered, his face flushed. “I’ll leave you guys to it, I’m gonna go and get a drink.” He winked at Gabriella and left the room.
Gabriella sighed deeply and gave her friends a dirty look.
“You couldn’t have came two minutes later?” she said.
“We’re sorry!” Taylor held up her hands in mock surrender.
Gabriella laughed. “It’s okay, no big deal.”
“So, WOW! You were about to kiss him again!” Kelsi exclaimed.
“Yeah! He started it!” Gabriella giggled. “Do you think he likes me?”
“Obviously!” Taylor squealed! “But wait! He’s still dating Sharpay and you’re still dating Josh!”
“Actually, I’m sorry you have to hear this from me Gabriella, but I saw Josh kissing some other girl yesterday when I was coming home from the party.” Kelsi said softly.
“Oh! Well, that saves me breaking up with him!” Gabriella said cheerfully.
Her best friends gave her a curious look.
“Well, it’s not like I was in love with him or anything!” Gabby defended herself.
Troy walked back in the room, carrying four bottles of Coke and a Get Well Soon teddy bear. He handed a bottle each to Taylor, Kelsi and Gabriella and then handed Gabby the blue bear.
“Ahh, he’s so cute!” she beamed. “Thanks Troy!”
Troy smiled. “Welcome. I was gonna get the bigger one but I think this room’s too small!” he laughed.
Gabriella grinned at him and hugged the bear.
“What are you gonna call him?” Kelsi smiled.
“Troy-Man.” Gabriella answered and winked at Troy. He laughed.

Later that afternoon, Troy made his way over to Sharpay’s house.
He knocked on the door, feeling guilty about what he was about to do.
Sharpay’s brother Ryan Evans, opened the door and smiled at Troy.
“Hey Man!” he said. “Come on in.”
Troy smiled back and stepped in the house. He walked up the stairs to Sharpay’s room and knocked on her door softly.
“Come in!”
He walked in to find Sharpay posing in front of the mirror.
“Hey Troy. Doesn’t this dress look fabulous on me?” she smiled at herself.
“Um, yeah.”
Sharpay had obviously forgotten about the fight they had. This was gonna be hard.
“Sharpay, we need to talk.” Troy said and sat down on the bed.
Sharpay turned around and looked at Troy properly.
“Eww!” she screamed. “Is that stitches?!”
Troy touched his cheek a little self-consiously. “Um, yeah. I told you about the car accident.”
“Oh right. That.”
“Anyway Sharpay, I think it’s best for the both of us if we… You know… Broke up.” He held his breath as he waited for Sharpay’s reply.
“You’re breaking up with me?!” Sharpay cried. “Me? Sharpay?”
“Yeah. I’m sorry.”
“Whatever Bolton. Get outta my house!” She flung one of her many handbags at him and Troy quickly left the house, glad it was over.
Once he was in his car, he drove to the hospital as fast as he could, ready to tell Gabriella exactly how he felt.

Gabriella was once again alone in her room, admiring Troy-Man the bear and eating a sandwich. Troy walked in and sat on the bed.
“Hey you!” Gabriella smiled. “Back again?”
“Yeah,” Troy grinned. “Glad to see me?”
“No.” She teased. “You bore me.”
Troy laughed and then looked at Gabriella intently. “Gabs, I need to tell you something but I don’t know how you’re gonna take it.”
Gabriella’s heart started pounding a little faster. “What is it?”
“Well,” Troy blushed. “The thing is… I think I’m…”
Troy was interrupted as the door swung open and Josh rushed in looking serious.
“Babe,” he started. “I came as soon as I heard! Are you OK?”
‘No way!’ Troy thought. ‘He comes NOW?’
“JOSH?” Gabriella asked disbelievingly. “What are you doing here?”
“Well, you’re my girlfriend! Why wouldn’t I be here?”
“Girlfriend? Are you sure you’re not mixing me up with the girl you were kissing last night?” Gabriella asked coolly.
‘I didn’t know about that!’ Troy thought, shocked. ‘Poor Gabriella.’
He stood up to leave but Gabriella grabbled his hand and pulled him back down.
“Aw man,” Josh said sheepishly. “I was hoping you didn’t know about that. She was my ex and we were having a talk about relationships and stuff, and we got carried away! It didn’t mean anything Gabs, I swear!”
“Whatever.” Gabby muttered.
“I can prove it!” Josh fumbled in his pocket and took out a small box. He handed it to Gabriella and smiled weakly.
Gabriella let go of Troy’s hand to open the box, which contained a silver bracelet with a small star.
“Josh...” Gabriella’s voice trailed off.
‘That was really sweet of him!’ Gabriella thought. ‘I can’t exactly reject him when he’s bought me a bracelet!’
She smiled at him. “Thanks. This is really nice of you.”
Josh leaned forward and kissed Gabriella passionately.
Troy coughed and stood up. “I should go.”
Gabriella pulled back. “If you’re sure,” she smiled at him. “We’ll talk later, Okay?”
“Yeah… Sure.” Troy left the room quickly and practically ran into Kelsi and Taylor at

Troy! What’s wrong?” asked Kelsi, seeing Troy’s depressed face.
“Nothing,” he mumbled, ready to leave the hospital.
Troy. We’re girls. We know when someone is depressed!” insisted Taylor. She grabbed his hand and took him to the hospital café. Kelsi followed.

The waitress smiled at them and placed three hot chocolates in front of them.
“Right. Spill.” Demanded Taylor.
“Josh is with Gabby. He gave her a bracelet.” Troy sighed.
“And that depresses you because…” Kelsi pursued.
Troy sighed again. “You really want to know?”
The girls nodded, wondering if they were about to hear what they were thinking.
“I love her.” Troy said simply. “And that’s three times I’ve tried to tell her! But something keeps getting in the way!”
The girls smiled.
“You love her!” Taylor grinned. ‘Gabriella’s gonna be so happy!’ she thought.
“You can’t tell her!” Troy warned.
“Why not?” Taylor’s smiled faded a little.
“I have to do it!” Troy said. “If Gabriella ever decides that Josh is a stupid idiot dumps the loser!”
Troy, I thought you liked Josh?” Kelsi said.
“I do,” Troy sighed. “I just don’t like him when he’s kissing Gabby.”
“Aww.” Taylor smiled.
“How am I gonna tell her?” Troy asked.
“You can’t.” Kelsi said seriously. “Not until she’s finished with Josh. You’ll just confuse her.”
Troy slammed his fist on the table. “But he kissed another girl! Whilst dating Gabriella! You’d think she’d tell him to get to-“
Troy! Don’t swear!” Kelsi warned.
“We didn’t think she’d take him back either.” Taylor said seriously. “But she’ll soon realize that Josh is an idiot herself. You just have to be patient.”
Troy nodded and sighed yet again. Taylor gave him a hug and Kelsi squeezed his hand, feeling bad for him.

“It was really sweet of you to get me this.” Gabriella smiled.
“You’re worth it.” Josh smiled.
His phone rang, startling them. He checked the caller ID and stood up.
“I have to take this. It’s my Mom.” He said, and walked out of the room.
Kelsi and Taylor walked into the room smiling.
“Hey Babes!” Taylor smiled and handed Gabriella a box of chocolates.
“Ohh! Thanks!” Gabriella smiled.
Gabriella began to fill the girls in on the whole Josh/Troy drama. Although desperate to tell, Taylor kept her mouth shut about the conversation they had with Troy.
Josh walked back into the room, smiling.
“What did your Mom want?” Gabriella smiled.
“My Mom?” Josh asked confused.
“Yeah, That’s who you were talking to, right?” Gabriella looked at him, confused.
“Oh, yeah! She just… wants me home by four.” Josh smiled back.
Kelsi looked at Taylor with her eyebrows raised. They were both thinking the same thing. ‘I don’t think that that was his Mom’. None of them said this out loud though.

Three hours later, Gabriella’s hospital room was filled with people. Gabriella herself, her Mom, Troy, Kelsi, Taylor, Samantha, Martha, Zeke and Chad. Josh had left at half past three and although he promised to come back, there was no sign of him.
A doctor walked in the room and was taken aback at the amount of people in the roon.
“Woah!” he smiled. “Is there a party going on in here?”
Everyone laughed.
“Miss Montez,” he said, turning to Gabriella. “You just have to go for one more check-up and then you’re free to go home.”
“Yay!” Gabriella beamed. “I miss my house!”
Everyone laughed again and since Gabriella was going home, most people said their goodbyes and left. Gabriella grabbed Troy’s arm.
“Could you give me a lift home Troy? My mom has to go to the supermarket and I don’t wanna go with her.”
Troy smiled and nodded. “Of course.

Once in the car, Gabriella automatically turned to look out the window. She was a little nervous about being in a car again and Troy could sense that. He smiled at her, reassuringly.
Troy, can I ask your advice about something?” Gabriella asked suddenly.
“Sure, go ahead.” Troy said, curious.
“When Josh walked back into the room… Do you think he was on the phone to his Mom?”
“Honestly?” said Troy. Gabriella nodded.
“No, I don’t.”
“Me either.” Gabriella sighed.
“Well, maybe it was just one of his friends?” Troy said encouragingly.
“But why would he lie about it?” Gabriella said softly.
Troy and Gabriella were quiet the rest of the journey. When they were approaching Gabriella’s house, a thought came into Troy’s head.
“You have to cheer up! It’s your birthday in a week!” He smiled.
“Oh yeah!” Gabriella laughed. “I can’t believe I forgot about that!”
Troy smiled. “What will I get you for a present?”
“You don’t have to get me anything!” Gabriella grinned. “But on the other hand, you could get me a beach house in Hawaii, a Gucci handbag, a puppy – preferably a Lhasa Apso, my own theme park…”
Troy began to laugh. “Right. Let me check my piggy bank!”
Gabriella giggled too and when they stopped outside her house, she reached over and gave Troy a hug.
“What’s this for?” Troy said, surprised but happy. He hugged her back.
“You’ve been an amazing friend Troy.” Gabriella murmered whilst thinking, ‘Woah! He smells so good!’
“Ahh, it’s nothing Gabs! It’s the least I could do after almost killing us both!” he smiled.
Gabriella pulled back. “Drama Queen!”
She got out of the car, and began walking into the house. She turned back and waved to Troy before stepping inside.
Troy laughed and began to drive away.

Troy had a basketball game that night. At six-thirty, a huge crowd gathered to watch the East High Wildcats play the West High Knights.
Chad!” Troy shouted, quickly flinging him the ball.
Chad caught it and expertly caught the ball and ran to the net. He flung the ball towards it and it went in – another point to East High.

There was fifteen seconds until the end of the game. West High had the ball and Troy quickly got it off one of the players. Passing it to Jason, he began running to an empty spot on the court, where Jason passed it right back. Troy was dribbling to the net. Five seconds to go. He suddenly aimed for the basket and the whole gym shut up to watch the ball fly gracefully towards the net. It went in just as the timer went off, signaling the end of the game.
“Yes!” Troy shouted, punching the air. His team-mates swallowed him in a crowd, jumping happily.
“Mr Bolton?” An official looking man walked up to him looking serious.
Troy stopped jumping and stood in front of him. “That’s me.”
“I need to talk to you.” The man said. He glanced at Troy’s team-mates. “Privatley.”

Confused, Troy followed the guy to an empty area in the locker-room. Waiting there already, was Troy’s dad, who was also the basketball coach.
“Er… What’s going on?” Troy asked, looking from one man to the other.
Troy,” Mr Bolton began. “This is Matt Saunders. He works for American Sports.”
“Oh , hey!” Troy relaxed a little and smiled at Matt.
Troy, I’ve seen you play. You have skills.” Matt smiled. “That’s why we’re offering you the chance to tour with some professional players around the country!”
Troy was speechless.
“Think of your college applications! You’re guaranteed a sports scholarship!” Matt grinned.
“I… You… I… Oh My God!” Troy stammered.
Matt and Mr Bolton laughed.
“I’ll take that as a yes!” Matt said. “I’ve discussed everything with your Dad. You leave in three weeks.”
“Wait!” Troy said. “How long will I be gone?”
“Roughly six months.”
“SIX MONTHS?! That means I’ll have to leave G…”
“Son,” Mr Bolton chipped in. “Please, think about it. Think of the doors it will open for you.”
Troy nodded and Matt announced that he had a plane to catch. They said their goodbyes and Troy quickly took a shower.

That night, Gabriella called Troy for a chat.
“Hey!” she smiled into the phone. Talking to Troy always made her smile.
“Hey,” he replied. “Whatcha doin’?”
“Nothing much. Josh was supposed to come over but he hasn’t yet.”
“He went out with Jason and Zeke after the game. I think they were going for pizza.”
“He could have told me that!” Gabriella sighed. “Oh, how did the game go?”
“We won.” Troy said. He couldn’t tell her about the offer. Not yet, anyway.
“Yay! Congratulations! Let me guess, you performed your magic trick as usual and scored just before the buzzer!” Gabriella giggled.
“Maybe I did…” Troy laughed.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t come.”
“Hey, don’t be stupid! You’ve just came out of the hospital!”
“But still…”
“So. You wanna do something tomorrow? That isn’t the mall?”
Gabriella laughed. “I like the mall! B

But sure, what do you want to do instead?”
“What about the beach? It’s supposed to be really sunny tomorrow!”
“That sounds awesome! Pick me up at one?”
“It’s a date!” Troy hung up the phone and Gabby squealed. Just her and Troy, alone at the beach. Perfect!

After Troy hung up the phone, he sat down at his computer and opened up his e-mail account. He clicked the Compose button and began writing:

Hey!
You might know it’s Gabriella’s 17th in 5 days – I’m thinking Surprise Party! Reply if you’re in! –Troy,

Only five minutes after he clicked the Send button, he already had six replies!

Taylor: Troy! Sounds awesome! I’m in!
Kelsi: Count me in! :)
Chad: Yep, if there’s a party then I’m there! ;)
Ryan: Sure, how can I help?
Zeke: PARTAYY! :P
Jason: Yes! Party! I’m in, how can I help?

Troy smiled at his computer screen. He hoped that this would be Gabriella’s best birthday ever! But what could he get her for a gift
Suddenly, an instant message appeared on his screen.

PRINCESS-SHAR: Hey Troy! :D

‘Sharpay!’ Thought Troy, ‘Great. Just what I need.’

TROYBOLTON: Hi Sharpay.
PRINCESS-SHAR: I was thinking about the whole break-up thing and I’ve decided to give you another chance! :)

Troy glanced at the screen in disbelief. Another chance?
Quickly he typed a message back and clicked Send.

TROYBOLTON: But Sharpay, I don’t want another chance. It’s over. Sorry.
PRINCESS_SHAR: You were serious? OMG! Is there someone else???

Troy had a weak smile on his face as he typed back.

TROYBOLTON: Yeah, there is. And she’s amazing.

Troy was sitting in Starbucks with Taylor, Kelsi, Martha, Chad, Jason, Zeke, Ryan and Josh.
“So,” he said. “Should we have a theme?”
They were discussing Gabriella’s surprise party. Troy was organizing it but he was out of ideas.
“Cowboys.” Jason said.
Everyone turned to look at Jason.
“Cowboys would be great,” Taylor said sarcastically. “If Gabriella was a five year old boy!”
Everyone laughed.
“I was thinking Retro?” Kelsi said.
“Nah, not Gabriella’s style.” Ryan replied.
“Well what is her style? What does she like?” Chad chipped in.
“She likes cute boys, writing, shopping, the beach, dogs, ice-cream…” Taylor started.
“Wait a minute!” Troy cried. Everyone stared at him, confused.
“The beach!” he grinned. “We’ll put a tent up on the beach, have a barbeque, get a portable CD player, we’ll dance all night!”
Taylor and Kelsi squealed. “That sounds amazing!”
“I’ll cook!” Zeke said.
“I’ll bring the CD’s.” Martha smiled.
“I’ll get the tent.” Ryan nodded.
“Thanks guys!” Troy grinned. “She’s gonna love it!”
“What are you guys getting her for a present?” Taylor sipped her coffee and sat up straight.
“The new Jonas Brothers CD.” Martha smiled. “We all know she has a crush on Nick!”
“A cute bag from Abercrombie.” Kelsi said.
“A DVD.” Chad said.
“A Gift Voucher.” Ryan chopped in.
“A huge tin of cookies I made myself. And a voucher.” Zeke grinned.
“A pair of sunglasses that she hinted about a few weeks ago.” Said Josh.
“A soft toy and a bubble bath set.” Jason smiled. “My sister told me that’s always a good thing to get a girl.”
“What about you Troy?” Kelsi asked. “What are you getting her?”
Troy slumped a little in his seat. “I don’t know yet.”

Gabriella was in her room, reading a book when her phone rang, surprising her. She picked it up and held it to her ear.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hey Gabriella, it's Josh. Do you want to go to the mall?"
"Yeah!" Gabriella smiled. "I'm not doing much anyway. Can you come and pick me up?”
"Actually, can you just meet me? I'm already at the mall and I don't want to have to drive all the way to your house." Josh said.
"Um, sure. I'll get the bus then." Gabriella said. "See you soon."

Gabriella entered the mall and saw Josh at the ice-cream cart, talking to a girl with blonde hair. She approached them, in time to hear what was being said.
"So, I'll pick you up at 9?" Josh was saying.
The girl adjusted her hair and smiled at Josh.
"Sure, see you then!" She waved and walked away.
"Who was that?" Gabriella asked.
Josh quickly turned around and was shocked to find Gabriella standing behind him.
"Oh, that was Susie. She needed a lift to my cousin's party tonight." he blushed a little and suddenly changed the subject.
"You look gorgeous in that outfit Gabs." Gabriella smiled at him, flattered and they began walking to Starbucks.
"Josh??" Some girl appeared in front of him looking angry.
"Oh, hey Anna." Josh turned red..
"We had fun last week, didn’t we?" she asked.
“Yeah,” he agreed.
"Then why haven't you called me?? You said you would!" She walked off annoyed.
"Last week?" Gabriella asked in disbelief. "When I was in the hospital?"
Josh's face turned bright red and he looked at the floor. "I was-" he began.
"Don't even try to make up some excuse Josh!" Gabriella cried. "It's over!" She ran out of the mall, caught the bus home and only when she was in her room, she began to cry.

The next day, Gabriella was still crying in her room when Troy walked in.
“Gabriella?? Ohmygod are you OK?” he dropped to her side and rubbed her back.
Through her sobs, Gabriella managed to stutter out that Josh was cheating on her.
“That B**t**d!” Troy cried. He stroked her hair and Gabriella put her head on his shoulder.
“W... What are you doing here anyway?” Gabriella asked.
“We were supposed to go to the beach today. Remember?”
“Oh Troy, I completely forgot. I’m so sorry!” Gabriella cried.
Troy looked at her sympathetically. “Gabriella, I don’t blame you for forgetting.”
“I don’t know why I’m so upset!” Gabriella sobbed, her head still resting on Troy’s shoulder. “I was going to dump him anyway… but it’s not nice to know that I’m not good enough for him!”
“Gabriella, you are beautiful, smart, friendly, caring, talented, and all-round amazing! And if Josh couldn’t see that, then he’s an idiot!”
‘Aww, how sweet is he??’ Gabby thought, smiling to herself. She laughed a little and wiped her eyes. “You forgot incredible, awesome, super-cute and gorgeous.”
Troy grinned at her. “That too.” He stood up and held his hand out to Gabby. She took it and he pulled her to her feet.
“Right,” she said, walking over to her closet. “What do I wear to the beach?”
Troy looked at her surprised. “We’re going?”
“Sure!” Gabriella said. “I can’t exactly break my promise.” She took out a bikini and a towel and flung them in a pink beach bag. She put on her sunglasses and threw some sun lotion and a magazine in the bag too. Troy looked at her.
“Gabs,” he said. “If you don’t want to go to the beach today, I completely understand.”
“No, I do!” she smiled. “It will be fun!”
He smiled and they walked to the car. Troy opened the door for her and once they were both in, he drove to the beach.

The beach was busy. It took a while for them to find a spot but once they were settled, they began enjoying the day.
“Want an ice-cream?” Troy asked Gabriella.
“Sure,” she smiled.
As Troy went to get the ice-cream, Gabriella ran to the public toilets where she put on her bikini. Looking in the mirror, she also put on lipgloss and fluffed her hair, secretly hoping that she would impress Troy.
When she got back to their spot, Troy was already there holding one of the biggest ice-creams she had ever seen.
“Are you kidding?” she exclaimed. “There is no way I can eat that!”
“Sure you can,” Troy teased. “Remember my eighth birthday? You ate plenty of food that day!”
Gabriella let out a small sound of protest, dipped her finger in the ice-cream, and put it on Troy’s nose.
“Oh, you’re going to pay for that!” Troy grinned, doing the exact same thing to Gabby.
Soon, a full ice-cream fight had emerged, causing passers-by to stop and laugh at the two teenagers, chasing each other with ice-creams.
Gabriella ran straight into the sea, to avoid some more ice-cream on her face, where Troy followed, laughing. She grabbed his waist and pulled him straight under the water.
Troy broke the surface and splashed Gabriella so that she was also soaking wet from head to toe.
Laughing, Troyella made their way back to their towels where the lay down in a comfortable silence.
“Thanks Troy.” Gabriella said, reaching over and giving Troy a wet, sandy hug.
“What for?” said Troy, surprised but enjoying the feeling of her hands around his waist.
“For taking my mind off that jerk! I owe you!” She pulled back.
Troy smiled at her. “Hey, can I take you out for dinner on your birthday?”
‘Obviously!’ thought Gabriella. ‘That would be the best birthday ever!’
“Sure!” she said. “That sounds awesome!”
‘Stage One is complete.’ Troy thought happily. ‘Operation Surprise Party is a go!’

In the mall, Troy was starting to worry. He had been in a countless number of shops searching for just the right present for Gabriella. He had found plenty of shoes, tops, and bags she might like but nothing was quite right for her.

That night at home, Troy was online, replying to emails. He smiled brightly when he noticed that he had one from Gabriella.
‘God Gabs,’ he thought to himself. ‘What are you doing to me??’
He clicked open the email and began to read.

Hey Troy!
Where are we going for dinner on my birthday. (3 days! I can’t wait! lol)
Write back soon!
Gabriella xxx

Troy clicked the “Reply” button and began typing a message to Gabriella.

It’s a surprise! :D
Mind your own business. :P
Troy.

As he send the message, a bright blue advert caught his eye.
‘LOOKING FOR THAT SPECIAL GIFT?’ it read. ‘LOOK NO FURTHER! GET A STAR NAMED AFTER YOUR LOVED ONE! ONLY $49.99!’
‘A star? That’s perfect!’ He clicked on the website and filled out his credit card details.
He was proud of himself but wanted to get her something else that was special too.
He stood up and left the room, heading for the kitchen where he knew that his parents were hanging out.
“Mom?” he said, entering the room. “What could I get Gabriella as a Birthday present?”
Mrs Bolton smiled at her son and gave Mr Bolton a look that said “I think he likes her”.
“I’m assuming that you want to get her something special?” Mr Bolton asked.
Troy blushed a little “Yeah.”
“Well, what about a necklace?” Mr Bolton suggested.
“Too common.”
“Oh! I know!” Mrs Bolton said. “A video of your pictures and videos of you guys! I have plenty of videos of you two when you were younger playing Barbies.”
Troy blushed harder. “To be fair, I played with the Action Men.”
His parents laughed at his red face. But Troy knew it was a good idea and he would make that for her as well as giving her the star.

“I’m going to dinner with Troyyyyyy!” Gabriella sang, bouncing a little on the bed.
Kelsi and Taylor, who were in her bedroom with her.
“I hate to burst your bubble Gabs,” said Taylor seriously. “But Troy didn’t say anything about it being a date.”
“I know,” Gabriella stopped bouncing but her smile didn’t fade. “But I’m gonna tell him exactly how I feel!”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Taylor asked.
Gabriella thought for a second and then nodded.
“Yes. Even if he doesn’t feel the same way, he has a right to know!”
Kelsi smiled. “Good Luck.”
“It’s not until Saturday – that’s three days away!”
“Yeah and we have some studying to do before the weekend anyway.”
Gabriella groaned. Exams were quickly approaching and already, she was sick of the sight of her textbooks.

The next day, Troy was yet again at the mall. Lying in bed last night, he remembered that Gabriella had mentioned something that he thought was possible.
“You could get me a beach house in Hawaii, a Gucci handbag, a puppy – preferably a Lhasa Apso, my own theme park…” she had said in the car a few days ago.
‘A puppy!’ Troy had thought. ‘That, I can do!”
He had to almost empty his savings but Gabriella was totally worth it.
He walked into the pet shop. The shop assistant smiled warmly at him.
“Hey,” she said. “How can I help you?”
“I was wondering if you had any Lhasa Apso’s for sale?” Troy asked.
“You’re lucky – we do!” She led him over to a large cage where three fluffy, tiny puppies were running about happily.
“I’ll take one!” Troy said with a huge smile on his face. They were so cute!
He gave the assistant his details, handed over $250 – Ouch! – and promised that someone would pick the puppy up either tomorrow or the next day. He couldn’t take it home himself as there was a chance that Gabriella might see it!

You guys will get a gift very soon! Just have to buy some more Stardollars first! :]

It was eight o’clock on Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day and all was quiet when suddenly, Gabriella’s phone rang, waking her up with a start.
Sighing, she picked up the phone and pressed the “Accept Call” button.
“Hello?” she said sleepily.
“Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Gabby! Happy Birthday to youuuuu!” Troy sang.
Gabriella laughed and woke up properly. “Thanks!” she said.
“So, I’m coming to your house in an hour and you’re gonna open your presents”
“Presents? Plural?” Gabriella squealed.
Troy laughed. “Yep. See you soon!”
“Byeeee!” she hung up just as her door burst open. It was her Mom, holding a tray with toast, coffee, orange juice and a cupcake with a candle on it.
“Happy Birthday Angel.” Mrs Montez sat the tray on Gabby’s lap and kissed her on the forehead.
“Aww, thanks Mom!” Gabriella smiled and took a bite of the toast. Suddenly, her Mom handed her a small box, which Gabriella opened quickly. She gasped when she found out that it contained a set of keys.
“Mom,” she said. “Is this what I think it is?”
Her Mom just smiled and nodded in the direction of the window. Gabriella leapt out of the bed and raced over to the window where she found a black, sophisticated sports car in the drive way!
“Ahh!” she screamed. “Thank you Mommy!” she hugged her Mom and raced out of the house in her pyjamas to go and sit in her new car.

When Troy arrived, holding a large box, and two small boxes, he found Gabriella still in the car, in her pyjamas, hair messy and no make-up on.
‘Woah!’ he thought. ‘Is it that possible for a girl to be so beautiful in the morning?’
Troy!” Gabriella spotted him and ran to hug him. Troy stepped back before she could.
“Lets go into the house first!” he said smiling.

In the living room, Troy handed her the smallest, most flat box first. Gabriella tore open the wrapping paper excitedly and found a laminated, baby blue certificate. She read it and gasped.
“You named a star after me?” she said, shocked.
“Yeah,” Troy blushed. “I just thought it was pretty special so-“ He was interrupted by Gabby flinging her arms around him and hugging him tight.
Troy pulled back laughing. “Here.” He handed the other small box and Gabriella opened it to find a DVD. She put it in the DVD player quickly and a huge smile lit up her face when pictures and videos of Troyella appeared on the screen.
“Ahh Troy! That’s so sweet of you!” she squealed, hugging him again.
“But you’ll like this one the most!” he said, handing her the large box. Gabriella opened it to find a tiny little puppy, asleep in a corner. She gasped and tears filled up in her eyes. She scooped the puppy up and held him close to her chest. The puppy started wagging his tail and licked Gabriella’s arm.
“Why are you crying?” Troy asked, a little worried.
“Because you, Troy,” Gabriella said, placing the puppy on the floor where he began sniffing around the room. “Are the most wonderful boy I’ve ever met.”
She hugged him again, long and hard. Troy hugged her back, glad that his gifts were a success.

That night, Gabriella was thrilled to learn that herself and Troy would be eating at Chez Robert. Halfway through their meal, Troy opened his mouth to speak.
‘Alright Troy,’ he thought. ‘It’s now or never.’
“Gabriella, do you remember at the hospital, I started to say something but Josh came in?”
Gabriella looked up from her chicken. “Yeah, you said ‘Gabs, I have to tell you something but I’m not sure how you’re gonna take it.’”
“Well,” Troy said. “I’m gonna tell you now, whether you like it or not.”
Gabriella looked at him curiously.
“Gabriella, I’m in love with you.”

Gabriella couldn’t move. She felt like she was floating.
‘Did he just say what I think he said?’ she thought.
Buy now, Troy was getting worried. ‘Aw man, why isn’t she saying anything? This was a mistake.’
Gabriella suddenly reached over and took Troy’s hand. “Ohmigosh!” she said. “I can’t believe this! Troy… I love you too!”
Troy beamed. “Seriously?”
Gabriella laughed. “Seriously.”
Troy reached over and took Gabriella’s face in his hands. He stroked her cheek and then kissed her tenderly.
“Thank God you said that too Gabs,” Troy smiled. “I’ve wanted to tell you for ages!”
“Then why didn’t you?” Gabriella asked. “It would have made my life easier! I’ve loved you for ages too!”
“Stuff kept getting in the way.” He said seriously. He leaned in yet again and kissed Gabriella passionatley on the lips.
“So!” he said brightly when they had pulled back. “Do you want to be my girlfriend?”
Gabriella still had her face close to Troy’s. “I do.” She whispered. “More than anything.” She leaned in again and kissed Troy, for the third time.
‘I can’t belive this is happening!’ she thought to herself. ‘This is like, a dream!’

For the rest of the dinner, the new couple didn’t eat much. They were too excited, happy and too busy smiling at each other.
Once Troy had paid, he stood up, took Gabriella’s hand and they began walking to the car.
“So, where are we going now?” Gabriella asked, as they both sat down in the car.
“I was thinking that we should go for a walk?” Troy suggested.
“That sounds awesome.” Gabriella quickly kissed Troy’s cheek before he started the car. He smiled at her and put his arm around her shoulders.
“Aw man Gabs,” he grinned. “You have no idea how happy I am!”
Gabriella giggled and snuggled into Troy. “Oh, I think I know.” She smiled.

When Troy stopped the car, at the beach car park, he immediatley tied a scarf around Gabby’s eyes.
“Troy!” she protested. “What are you doing? I can’t see a thing!”
“That’s the plan!” Troy laughed. “I have a surprise for you!”
“You do?” Gabriella smiled.
Troy helped her out of the car and they began walking.
“Ouch!” Gabriella cried. “I tripped over a rock!”
“Oops.” Troy said. Then, he bent down in front of her. “Jump on my back.”
Gabriella laughed. “No way!”
“Just do it!” Troy smiled.
Obediently, Gabriella jumped on Troy’s back and he carried her to the tent.

When they got to the tent, he carried her inside, mouthing “Ssshhh!” to everyone inside it. He put Gabriella down and then began to undo her blindfold.
“We’re here?” Gabriella asked. She gasped as the blindfold dropped to the floor and suddenly at least sixtly people yelled “SURPRISE!”
Someone put music on and she was hugged, kissed and wished Happy Birthday. When the crowd died down and most people were dancing, she turned to Troy.
“You did this?” she asked happily.
“Well, I had help.” He admitted.
She took his hand and led him over to where Taylor, Kelsi, Martha, Chad, Jason, Zeke and Ryan were standing.
“Guys,” she said. “I want you to meet my new boyfriend!”
Kelsi, Taylor and Martha squealed and hugged them both.
“About bloody time!” Martha cried.
Suddenly, a slow song started to play and Troy looked at Gabriella intently.
“Want to dance?” he asked.
“Obviously!” Gabriella smiled and they walked onto the dancefloor.
Troy wrapped his arms around Gabriella’s waist and pulled her close. Gabby flung her arms around Troy’s neck.
In the middle of the song, Troy pulled back and looked into Gabriella’s eyes. She smiled at him and leaned in. Troy, pulled her closer and their lips met in the perfect kiss, as Hannah Montana’s “One In A Million” played on the stereo

The next day, Gabriella woke up in her room, happier than she’d been in a long time. She checked her phone to find a text from Troy.

JHey Babe.
Hope you had fun last night.
When can we go on our first official date?
Love You. X

Gabriella squealed out of sheer happiness and re-read the text about twenty times before replying.

JYou know I had fun last night!
As for the date, tonight, cinema, eight o’clock?
Love You More. xo

She sent the message and went downstairs to find her Mom sitting in the kitchen reading the newspaper.
“Hey Gabs!” she smiled. “How was your party?”
“Oh it was amazing Mom! But I haven’t told you the best part!”
“Go on then!” her Mom smiled.
“Me and Troy are officially a couple! He asked me at dinner!”
“About time!” her Mom grinned. “Good for you guys! I hope you’ll be happy together.”
“Thanks!” Gabby smiled back. “He’s my first official, proper, perfect boyfriend!”
“And that’s good,” Mrs Montez smiled. “But we should lay down some rules now that you have your first official proper perfect boyfriend.”
Gabriella’s smile faded a little. “Go.”
“Number one, he can come over whenever he likes. Number two, I expect him for dinner with his parents Friday night.”
Gabriella looked up, surprised. “That’s it?”
Mrs Montez smiled at her. “I trust you and I trust Troy. Don’t forget, I’ve known him since you guys were two!”
Gabriella laughed and hugged her Mom. “You are officially the coolest Mom!”
“I know!”

Troy, also extremely happy, was in the kitchen eating toast when his Dad walked in.
“Hey son.” He smiled. “Can I stop you thinking about your new girlfriend for five minutes? You’ve got a letter.”
Troy laughed and took the official-looking letter from his Dad’s hand. He opened the envelope and began to read.

Hey Troy!
It’s Matt Saunders from American Sports.
I’ve talked to your parents and we can’t wait to have you on the team!
All you have to do is fill in the form enclosed and we will then send you everything you need!
Hope to see you soon!
Matt.

Troy’s heart sank. In all the excitement, he had totally forgotten about the whole basketball-tour thing. He had Gabriella now. He couldn’t leave her for 5 months! But on the other hand, it was an amazing opportunity – he could pretty much get accepted for any scholarship he wanted. He needed advice. From Gabriella herself.

That night, Troy picked Gabriella up exactly at seven thirty. Her Mom answered the door and smiled warmly at Troy. Then, she pulled him into a hug.
“Hey Mrs Montez.” Troy smiled when she let go.
Troy!” she grinned. “I expect I’ll be seeing a lot more of you! You’ve made Gabriella very happy!”
Troy blushed but smiled harder. “She’s made me happy too.”
“Moooom!” said Gabriella walking down the stairs. “Do you have to be so… Mom-ish?”
Her Mom smiled and started walking away. “Sorry, I’ll leave you to it!”
“Woah!” said Troy, taking in Gabriella’s white dress and kitten heels. “You look amazing!”
“As do you.” Gabby smiled. She took a step forward and kissed him lightly on the lips.
“Listen,” Troy said. “Do you mind if we go for dinner or ice-cream instead? I need your advice about something.”
“Sure.” Gabriella replied, slightly concerned.
Troy put his arm around her waist and walked her to the car. Once seated, they began to drive.

Troyella ended up at an elegant coffee shop near the beach.
“So,” said Gabriella, sipping her coffee. “What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?”
Troy was a little nervous. He sat up straighter. “Well, I’ve been offered to go on a basketball tour thing. It’s an amazing opportunity.”
“Wow! Troy! Congratulations!” Gabriella squeezed his hand.
“The thing is Gabs, it starts next month and I’ll be away for roughly five months.” Troy looked into Gabriella’s eyes.
Gabriella was trying to take this information in. ‘Wait a minute.’ She thought. ‘We just got together and now he’s leaving me to play basketball for five months?’
“Gabriella, I swear, I won’t go if you don’t want me to! I’m not even sure I want to go! We just got together, and then I’d have to leave-“
Troy was interrupted by Gabriella moving closer and giving him a hug.
“What’s this for?” Troy asked, pulling her closer.
Troy,” said Gabriella, once she had pulled back. “You have to do this. It’s an amazing opportunity. You said it yourself.”
“And… what about us?” Troy asked.
“Well, I’m not ready to give you up yet!” smiled Gabby. “We’re gonna stay together until you leave and then we’ll just pick up where we left off when you get back?”
“That sounds perfect.” Troy grinned. “You are seriously the best! I love you!”
Gabriella smiled but she was actually sad that Troy was leaving. “I love you more.”
Troy suddenly pulled Gabriella closer and kissed her in a way that made her breathless.
“Mmm, I’m gonna miss that.” Whispered Gabriella and rested her head on his shoulder.
“Hey, what do you say to a walk on the beach?” Troy asked her, smiling.
“I’d say that sounds good.” Gabriella said.
“I’ll just go and pay.” Troy said, excusing himself.
When Troy was away, Gabriella quickly put on some more lipgloss and brushed her hair.
‘God, I love him!’ Gabriella thought happily. “I’m not gonna think about him leaving.”

On the beach, Troyella walked hand-in-hand, shoeless, right next to the sea. Occasionally, strong waves would wet their feet and every time they did, Gabriella would squeal at the cold. Troy would laugh because it made him love her even more, if that was even possible.
“Aaahh!” Gabriella squealed. “It gets colder every time!”
Troy laughed yet again and then said. “Do you wanna go back to the car?”
“Nope.” Gabriella grinned cheekily. “I wanna do this.”
She wrapped her arms around Troy’s neck and kissed him passionately. Troy ran his fingers through her hair and wrapped his arms around the waist. Whilst kissing, he picked her up and swung her around. Gabriella laughed and leaned in to kiss him again, when his mobile phone rang, startling him.
“Oh, hold on.” He said regretfully and put Gabriella down. He pressed a button on his phone and held it to his ear. “Hello?”
Gabriella waited patiently as Troy spoke on the phone.
“Right.” Troy was saying. “Bye.”
He hung up and turned to Gabriella. “Are you doing anything tomorrow?”
She shook her head. “Nope.”
“Well, do you want to meet the family?” Troy asked, smiling.
Gabriella was confused. “I’ve already known your family since I was two!”
“No, I mean the whole family. Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, Cousins… My Aunt Michelle is having a barbeque tomorrow and I want you to come.”
Gabriella smiled, flattered that he wanted to introduce her to his family. “Of course I’ll come!”
“Awesome.” Troy grinned and pulled her in closer. “Now where were we?”

“I have NOTHING to wear!” Gabriella cried, flinging yet another dress out of her closet.
“Gabriella, chill! It’s just a barbeque!” Taylor laughed.
“I know,” Gabriella sighed. “But I really want to impress Troy’s family.”
She turned her attention back to the huge pile of clothes on the bed, when suddenly there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” Gabriella called.
Mrs. Montez walked in carrying a large box. She handed it to Gabriella and ushered her to the bathroom. “Go try it on.”
Gabriella rushed into the bathroom and took a beautiful purple, floral-print dress. She stepped into it and zipped it up, then walked gracefully from the bathroom.
“I love it!” Taylor squealed.
“You look beautiful!” Mrs Montez smiled.
Gabriella grinned back and put on white dolly shoes to match.
“I’m ready. Thanks Mom!” She smiled at herself in the mirror.
“Good,” Taylor giggled. “Because Troy will be here in ten minutes.”

“Woah!” Troy exclaimed when Gabriella opened the door. “What do you say to skipping the barbeque and come to make out with me instead?”
Gabriella laughed and kissed him lightly on the lips.
“No seriously,” Troy smiled. “You look amazing! As always.”
Gabriella called goodbye to her Mom and took Troy’s hand. They got into Troy’s car and drove to his Aunt’s house.

Troy!” Aunt Michelle exclaimed when she opened the door. “Look at you!” she hugged him and ushered Troyella inside. “Your parents are out back. But first, who is this young lady?”
“This is Gabriella Montez. My girlfriend.” Troy smiled and put his arm around Gabby’s waist.
“Hi, nice to meet you.” Gabriella shook his Aunt’s hand and then they were brought through to a large garden where a lot of people were gathered.
Troy!” About a hundred people cried and he was hugged and kissed by relatives.
“Guys,” said Troy, still with his arm around Gabriella. “This is my girlfriend Gabriella.”
“Hey.” Gabriella smiled at everyone.

“This is the first time Troy’s ever brought a girl to meet us.” said an old woman with sparkling blue eyes like Troy’s. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Gabriella laughed. “You too.”
“Okay, enough of this!” A middle-aged man with blond hair called. “Burgers are ready!”

Later that afternoon, Gabriella went to the kitchen to get some lemonade. The kitchen was empty and suddenly Troy walked in and wrapped his arms around her.
“You’re a success,” he whispered into her ear. “My family love you.”
“Well, I love them too.” Gabriella giggled. She turned around so she was facing him properly. Troy suddenly leaned in and kissed her. She kissed him back with passion and he ran his fingers through her hair.
“Oh! I’m telling!” A young voice said.
Gabriella quickly pulled away and found a small boy staring at them accusingly.
“Hey!” Troy walked over and picked the boy up and swung him around. “Gabs, this is my cousin Jay. Jay, this is Gabriella.”
“Are you his girlfriend?” Jay asked Gabby when Troy put him down.
Gabriella giggled. “Yep!”
“I’m telling that you were kissing unless Troy comes to skateboard with me!”
“Aww man,” Troy said. “Kiss my girlfriend or go skateboarding? That’s a hard decision!”
“Aww go on Troy!” Gabriella laughed. “Jay is so cute! And besides, I’ve never seen you skateboard before.”
“He taught me!” Jay said proudly and grabbed Troy’s hand. “Come on Troy!”
So Gabriella watched as Troy taught little Jay some moves.
‘I have the best boyfriend ever!’ she thought happily.

Little Jay looked at Gabriella who was sitting on a wall, laughing at Troy who had just fallen and was looking sheepish.
“Gabriella,” he said. “Do you know how to skateboard?”
“No.” she smiled. “I’d be too scared of falling off!”
Troy will teach you! He taught me!” Jay smiled back.
Troy walked over, brushing some grass off of his T-Shirt. “I will Gabs.”
“Okay. But you’d better have an ambulance ready!” Gabriella jumped off of the wall and stood on the skateboard.
“Just make the skateboard move with your feet.” Said Troy, running alongside Gabriella who was wobbling slightly.
“How do I turn?” she said, wobbling even more.
“Lean to the side.” Troy said, still running. He took her hand to steady her.
So Gabriella leaned to her left – but the skateboard kept going forward. Suddenly, she lost her balance and fell. Right on top of Troy.
“Oof!” Troy said, surprised at Gabriella on top of him.
“Oops,” she smiled. “Sorry about that.”
Troy laughed. “It’s OK.” He leaned in and gave Gabriella a kiss on the lips. She giggled and stood up, brushing herself down.
Jay ran towards them with the skateboard. “I have the board! You can try again!” he said to Gabriella.
“No, that’s OK. I’d much rather sit down and watch you guys!” she smiled.

Later, as the couple were saying goodbye to everyone, Jay gave Gabriella a kiss on the cheek. “You’re nice.” He said shyly. “You can come to a barbeque whenever you want!”
Gabriella laughed. “Thanks little guy!” she smiled at him.
Jay looked proud and Troy pretended to be in a huff. “Quit stealing my girlfriend dude!” Then, he smiled and ruffled Jay’s hair. “See you soon.”
“Bye Troy! Bye Gabriella!” Jay waved the couple off as they drove off, Troy’s arm around Gabriella’s shoulders, Gabriella’s head resting on Troy’s shoulder.

The couple were almost home when Troy suddenly looked at Gabriella.
“Want to go for ice-cream?” he said.
“I do,” Gabriella sighed. “But exams start next week and I really have to study.”
“Me too.” Troy said sadly. “But I’d much rather go for ice-cream with you.”
He stopped the car outside Gabriella’s house but she didn’t make any effort to get out of the car.
“I think I can spare five minutes.” She smiled, leaning in for a kiss. Troy also leaned in and they shared a long, passionate kiss.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at school.” Gabriella smiled, pulling away regretfully.
“Okay Babe. I love you.” Troy waited until Gabriella was safely in the house before driving away.

The next day at school, Troy walked into the main corridor and immediately spotted Gabriella at her locker. He couldn’t help but smile as he saw a picture of him in her locker. He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and lifted her up.
When he put her down Gabriella flung her arms around his neck and hugged him hard.
“Hey Wildcat!” she said, into his neck. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Troy said, holding her close. “Even if it was for only one night.”
Troy kissed Gabriella passionately and she responded by running her fingers through her hair. He pressed her up against the locker, still kissing her and she giggled a little.
“Troy Bolton! Gabriella Montez!”
Troy quickly pulled back and stared straight into the face of Coach Bolton (his father) who looked a little angry.

“Can you come with me please?” Mr Bolton said. He started walking towards his office and Troy and Gabriella followed, embarrassed at being caught.
When they had reached his office and sat down, Mr Bolton turned to them seriously.
“It’s good you like each other, but you can’t go around kissing like that at school!”
“Sorry Dad.” Troy mumbled, staring at his shoes.
“Yeah, it won’t happen again.” Gabriella chipped in, playing with her hands.
“Good.” Mr Bolton said. “Because if it wasn’t me who had caught you then you both would have gotten a detention. Oh and Gabriella, tell your Mom that we can make dinner on Friday night.”
Gabriella looked up and smiled at him. “Okay.”
Troy looked up too and took Gabriella’s hand. “Thanks Dad.”
The homeroom bell rang and Troyella stood up.
“We have to get to class. See you at gym!” Troy said. Still holding Gabby’s hand, they walked to homeroom, where they were later than everyone else.
“Sit down please.” Mrs Darbus said warningly. “And please don’t be late again.”
Troy glanced at Gabriella and winked, and they both sat down, ready to start the lesson.

That night, Troyella had a date. They were going to the cinema.
“So what do you want to see?” Troy asked, his arm around Gabriella’s waist.
“I don’t mind.” Gabriella smiled. “You can choose.”
”But I want you to choose.” Troy smiled back.
“You choose!” Gabriella laughed. “I chose the last time!”
“But I like making you happy.” Troy protested. “So you choose!”
They ended up going to see Nim’s Island. It was a neutral choice and had some funny moments. Gabriella wasn’t that interested in the film anyway. She just liked having Troy’s arm around her for two hours straight.
When the movie was over, instead of getting ice-cream like they usually did, Troyella decided to go home and study for the exams that were coming up.
Troy sat down in the drivers seat of his car and turned the key. No response.
He tried again and still, the car didn’t make

a sound.
“Great!” he hit the steering wheel and tried once more. He got out of the car and checked the engine. He sighed and brought out his phone. He dialed a number and held it up to his hear.
“Dad?” he said. “Could you come and tow me and Gabs home? The car won’t start. Right. See you soon. Thanks.” He hung up and turned to Gabriella, still sitting in the car.
“Come on. We may as well go get a hot dog from that stand over there.”
She got out the car, worrying a little because she wouldn’t get much studying done tonight. “Have you tried the engine?” she asked.
“Yep.”
“Have you tried checking the water levels?” she suggested.
“Yes.”
“But what about-“
“Gabriella! I’ve checked everything!” Troy insisted, getting a little annoyed.
Gabriella, offended, sat on a bench.
Troy stood up and paced back and forward, annoyed that Gabriella was suggesting that he couldn’t fix a car.
They sat in complete silence for fifteen minutes until Troy saw that Gabriella was shivering in her dress.
“You’re cold!” he said, taking off his jacket.
“No, I’m not.” Gabriella muttered. Troy sat down beside her and placed his jacket around her shoulders. “Thank you.”
Troy leaned in and kissed her passionately. “I’m sorry for snapping at you.” He said.
“I’m sorry too.” Gabriella smiled at him. “I’m just stressed because of these stupid exams.”
“Well, what’s two plus two?” Troy asked, smiling a little.
Gabriella smiled back. “Four.”
“Congratulations, you’ve passed maths.”
She laughed and hit him playfully on the arm. “It’s alright for you, you’re guaranteed a scholarship anyway! All I have is my grades!”
Troy hugged her. “You know you’re going to pass! You’ve been studying for months! I’ve hardly started!”
She hugged him back. “I love you.”
Troy kissed her again, this time for longer.
“At it again you two?” said a voice.
They pulled back, surprised to find Mr Bolton, smiling at them.
“Busted.” Troy said.
Everyone laughed.

The first exam was English. The task was to write an essay about your favourite novel and what it means to you.
Gabriella glanced at the paper, unsure of what book to choose. She glanced around and saw Troy, his pen flying over the paper, his tongue stuck out to show he was concentrating hard. She turned back to her paper and put her pen on the page, to her relief, inspiration kicked in and an hour later, handed in her essay.

“Oh My God. I have soo failed!” Kelsi came out of the exam looking seriously upset.
“I’m sure you haven’t Kels.” Gabriella reassured her. “You’re just nervous.”
Troy came out a few minutes later and hugged Gabriella. “How did it go?”
“Okay I think.” Gabriella said, and kissed Troy lightly on the lips. “You?”
“I’m not saying anything! I don’t wanna jinx it!” Troy laughed.

Two weeks flew by, Gabriella and Troy seeing each other as much as they could in between frantic late-minute studying. Everyone was feeling the pressure and it was a relief when the final exam came around, and the gang stood together yet again, waiting to be let into the exam hall.
“I’m so tired.” Gabriella said weakly. “I feel like I’ve ate a million textbooks!”
Everyone laughed.
“That wasn’t meant to be funny.” Gabriella protested.
Troy put his arm around her. “Cheer up! This is our last exam then we can relax and a have a huge party? Who’s in?”
“I am!” Chad said. “My parents are away so we can have it at my house! As long as there isn’t too many people.”
“I’ll be there.” Taylor and Kelsi said in unison.
Gabriella smiled. “Sounds fun.”
Suddenly, the examiner beckoned everyone waiting inside.
Troy squeezed Gabriella’s hand. “Good luck baby.” He whispered.

Troy stared at his paper, hands sweating. Maths was never his best subject and even though he studied hard for it, the answers were just not coming to him. He could remember the formulas alright, but he could not actually do the sum. Sighing, he put his head down and tried his hardest to concentrate.
‘Inverse Pythagoras?’ Troy thought, frowning. ‘What the hell is that?’
He put his head in his hands and frantically searched through his brain for the answer. Sighing, he scribbled something random down and promised himself he’d go over it again before leaving the exam hall.

Gabriella, to her surprise, found maths pretty easy. Maths had always been one of her best subjects and was scribbling furiously across the question booklet.
She finished the exam with time to spare and was the first to leave the exam hall.
She sat on a bench outside, waiting for Troy.

Troy walked out and immediately hugged Gabriella.
“I’ve officially failed maths!” he announced. “That went awful!”
Gabriella rubbed his back comfortingly. “It’s okay, you have basketball, remember? And don’t get too sad, we have Chad’s party tonight!”
“You’re right.” Troy smiled. “Let’s go. It takes me 2 minutes to get ready but you take about three years!”
Gabriella laughed and climbed into Troy’s car and they drove home.

“So, will there be parents there?” Mrs Montez asked, sitting on the edge of Gabriella’s bed, watching her daughter straighten her hair.
“No,” Gabriella said honestly. “But you’ve known Troy and the Wildcats for years! You can trust us.”
“Will there be drink there?” Mrs Montez asked.
“Probably.” Gabriella turned to her Mom. “But Mom, I’m responsible.”
“I know you are sweetie.” Mrs Montez tucked a strand of Gabriella’s hair behind her ear. “I trust you.”
“Thanks Mom.” Gabriella leaned in and gave her Mom a kiss on the cheek.
Suddenly, a car beeped from outside.
“That’s Troy!” Gabriella squealed. She turned to her Mom again. “Do I look OK?”
Her Mom smiled. “Gorgeous.”

The next day, Gabriella woke up in her room, happier than she’d been in a long time. She checked her phone to find a text from Troy.

“Gorgeous.”

“Hey Dude!” Chad greeted Troy with a man hug and smiled warmly at Gabriella. “Hey Gabs.”
The couple said hello back and walked into Chad’s house to find the party in full swing.
A bunch of sweaty Wildcats were ruling the dance floor and a few guys on the basketball team were having a loud discussion about West High Knights, influenced by the cans of beer in their hands.
Troy took Gabriella’s hand. “Wanna dance?”
“Yep!” Gabriella replied.
Troyella took to the dance floor, and didn’t leave it until after the third song.
Gabriella leaned in. “Want to go get a drink? I’m really warm.”
Troy nodded and they made their way to the drinks.
Gabriella picked up a Lemonade and out of nowhere, George, a guy from the basketball appeared out of nowhere and greeted Troy with a man hug.
“Hey man.” Troy smiled.
George glanced at the Coke in Troy’s hand. “Coke? That’s kid’s stuff! Have a beer dude!”
“Nah, I’m fine with Coke thanks.” Troy replied.
“C’mon Dude! Celebrate the last day of exams!” George grinned and thrust a beer into Troy’s hands. He walked off in hot pursuit of a blonde cheerleader.
“You’re not really going to drink that are you?” Gabriella asked, wrinkling her nose at the beer.
Troy opened the can. “Yeah, why not? One can won’t hurt Gabs.” He took a sip of his beer and nodded at Kelsi who had just come over to stand with Gabriella. Troy smiled at them and walked off to find Zeke and Jason.
“Gabs, I’m worried about Taylor.” Kelsi said.
“What? Why?” Gabriella asked, concerned.
“She’s had way too much to drink! And she’s been flirting with Chad – who is also drunk by the way – all night! I caught them making out in the middle of the dance floor!”

“I’m sure she’s not had that much.” Gabriella said. “She’s responsible.”
“Yeah, you’re probably right.” Kelsi agreed. “And as for Chad, you know she’s had a crush on him for ages! She’ll be happy!”
Gabriella giggled. “What about you? Who do you like?”
Kelsi blushed. “No-one.”
Gabriella smiled. “Come on Kels, there’s gotta be someone!”
“Well, maybe there is…” Kelsi said, red with embarrassment.
“Who?”
“Jason.”
“Jason! Aww, he’s so cute!” Gabriella laughed. “Ask him to dance!”
“No way! I’m too shy!” Kelsi giggled.

It was almost an hour later when Gabriella found Troy again. He was with his basketball team-mates, laughing loudly about something they had seen earlier.
Troy?” Gabriella said.
Troy turned around and grinned at her. “Heyy Gabbyy! Where have youuu been?” He let out a burp, causing many of the boys to cheer and stood up and hugged her. Gabriella almost gagged at the sudden stench of beer. She grabbed his hand and led him over to a quiet corner.
Troy! Are you drunk?”
“Nooo I’m not drunk!” Troy said. “Now let go Gabs, I wanna be with ma boysss!”
“You are drunk! No way Troy, we’re going home!”
“Party-Poooper!”
Gabriella sighed. It was lucky she knew how to drive. She led Troy to the car and the fresh air sobered him up a bit.
“Aww man, my parents are gonna kill me!” he said, rolling down the window.
“Which is why you’re staying at my house tonight.” Gabriella said. “I can’t believe you Troy, giving into peer pressure that easily!”
“Sorry Gabs.” Troy said. He leaned out the window but suddenly turned pale. “I feel sick.”
Gabriella stopped the car at the side of the road, just in time to let Troy throw up all over the bushes. Gabriella rubbed his back soothingly and handed him her bottle of water.
“Come on, get back in the car. Cross your fingers that my Mom is asleep!”

Mrs Montez was not asleep. She was in the living room watching TV when Gabriella and Troy walked in. She probably wouldn’t have heard them but Troy suddenly tripped over an umbrella stand and landed with a huge crash on the floor.
“Gabby?” Mrs Montez hurried out into the hall where Troy was picking himself up, looking sheepish.
“Um, hi Mom.” Gabriella said.
Mrs Montez looked at Troy. “What’s wrong with him?” She asked tiredly.
“He might be a little drunk.” Gabriella admitted. “He doesn’t handle peer pressure well.”
Mrs Montez eyed him warily and then sighed. “He needs coffee. It will help sober him up a little.”
She took him into the kitchen and sat him down at the table. Gabby sat across from him, looking tired. Troy began to laugh at the kettle when it was boiling because of the bubbles.
Troy! Shut up!” Gabriella said.
Troy shut up and took a drink of his coffee. After the first cup, he began to calm down a little. He looked at Mrs Montez and then at Gabby.
“I’m sorry guys.” He said.
Gabriella squeezed his hand and Mrs Montez gave him a quick hug.
“Are you gonna tell my parents?” Troy asked worriedly.
“I should.” Mrs Montez sighed. “But I won’t. As long as you promise me that it will never happen again.”
“I promise.” Troy said, smiling at her. “Thanks Mrs Montez.”
“Come on Troy. Let’s go to bed.” Gabriella said, taking Troy upstairs. She put a basin next to the bed.
“You’ll need it in the morning.” Gabriella said when Troy looked at her strangely. They climbed into bed and Troy gave Gabriella a hug.
“Thanks Gabs. You are officially the best.” He said.
Gabriella smiled at him and closed her eyes. “I know.”
Troy rolled over and went to sleep.

Gabriella was woken up by the lovely noise of Troy throwing up in the bathroom..
He emerged looking pale and tired.
“I feel horrible.” He sighed.

“It’s your own fault!” Gabriella said, but she got out of bed and hugged him.
Troy hugged her back and then pulled away. “I need a glass of water.”
“I’ll get it for you.” Gabriella said. “Just wait here.”
Troy smiled at her gratefully and she ran downstairs to get him water. She found her Mom sitting in the kitchen eating a bagel.
“Morning Gabs.” said Mrs Montez. “How is he?”
“Hungover.” Gabriella answered. She poured water into the glass and turned to walk back upstairs.
“You’re a good friend sweetie.” Mrs Montez smiled at her.
Gabriella smiled back and went back upstairs to help Troy. He had stopped throwing up but looked awful.
“Urgh!” Troy said. “I am never going to drink again!”
Gabriella giggled. “Why did you?”
“I don’t know,” Troy said. “I guess just to be like the rest of the team.”
“But I don’t like the rest of the team.” Gabby replied. “I like you.”
Troy smiled at her. “I would kiss you but my breath probably stinks!”
Gabriella laughed. “That’s okay.”

Troy stayed at Gabriella’s house, recovering for the rest of the day. They were watching TV, snuggled up when suddenly an announcement appeared on the sports channel they were watching.
“And players set to play in the basketball tours –starting in 2 weeks! - are,” the reporter was saying. “Greg Hampton, Tom Young,. Dave Parker, Micheal Brown, John Smith, Robert Murray, Jason Brick, Justin Watson, Derek Cole, Fred Cook and Troy Bolton.”
Gabriella stiffened. “I forgot.”
Troy sat up straighter. “Me too.”
“I can’t believe I forgot!” Gabriella said, almost to herself.
Troy wrapped his arms around her. “I can always pull out if you don’t want me to go.”
“No way! We’ve discussed this already! You have to go!” Gabriella said. “I just can’t believe it’s in two weeks!”
“Me too.” Troy whispered.
Gabriella pulled back. “I have to go to the bathroom.”

In the bathroom, she let the tears fall. Troy was leaving her for five months!
‘I’m going to miss him so much!’ she thought to herself.

I'm not happy with this chapter! I wasn't inspired! :(
Gabriella emerged from the bathroom, her eyes a little red. Troy sensed that she was upset and put his arm around her. She cuddled closed to him and they continued to watch the TV.

The following Friday, Gabriella was nervous. Troy and his parents were coming for dinner and she wanted absolutely everything to be perfect!
Standing in front of the mirror, she put a glittery clip into her hair and smiled at her reflection.
Suddenly, there was a knock at her room door. She ran over to open it and grinned when she saw Troy standing there.
“Hey, how are-“ she started to say, but she was interrupted as Troy took her in his arms and kissed her.
“What was that for?” Gabriella giggled.
“I haven’t seen you since Wednesday! I missed you!” Troy smiled.
Gabriella laughed. “I missed you too! And I’m sorry I didn’t see you much yesterday. I saw you in homeroom but I spent the rest of the day with Taylor. She felt sick all morning and I was just making sure she was OK.”
“Did she have a hangover after that party?” Troy asked.
“Worse than yours, can you believe it?” Gabriella replied.
Troy grinned a little sheepishly. “I swear, it won’t happen again!”
At that moment, Mrs Montez shouted them both down for dinner.

“I think it’s wonderful that Troy and Gabriella have started dating!” Mrs Montez declared, beaming at Mrs Bolton.
“I couldn’t agree more!” Mrs Bolton smiled back. “I’ve always thought they were a perfect match!”
“Mom!” Troy and Gabriella groaned in unison. They blushed a little and smiled at each other.
“So how did you do in your exams Troy?” Mrs Montez asked him, passing him the plate of garlic bread.
Troy took the plate and made a face. “I think I did OK. I’m not confident about maths though.”
Gabriella squeezed his hand comfortingly. “I don’t think I did very well in History.” She admitted.

Well, we won’t know until you get your results, will we?” Mr Bolton said. “All we know is that you kids did your best and we’re proud of you.”
“Thanks Dad.” Troy said.
“Yeah, thank you Mr Bolton.” Gabriella chimed in.

Later on that evening, everyone was still gathered around the dinner table, eating chocolate cake.
Troy, smiling a little to himself, kicked Gabby gently under the table and winked at her.
She grinned and kicked him back and it kept going on until they were playing Footsie under the table.
“Yeah, I think the Wildcats could make it to the top this year!” Mr Bolton was saying. Suddenly he dropped his fork and bent to pick it up.
Gabriella and Troy, still smiling at each other, lost in their own little world didn’t notice Mr Bolton bend down to see their legs touching and rubbing against each other under the table.
‘Woah!’ he though. ‘Just how serious are those two?’
He remained his place at the table, giving himself a mental note to talk to Troy later.

Even later that night, when Troy and his parent’s left, Gabriella went upstairs to her bedroom and called Taylor.
“Hey Tay!” she said when Taylor picked up. “How are you?”
“Gabs, I feel awful!” Taylor said. “I’m so tired and cranky!”
“Aww,” said Gabriella, genuinely feeling sorry for her friend. “Is there anything I can do?”
“No, not really.” Taylor sighed. “Unless you come over to my house tomorrow and keep me company.”
Gabriella laughed. “Of course! I’ll be there first thing!”
“Thanks Gabs. Talk to you later.”

“Gabriella!” Mrs Montez cried, the next morning.
Gabriella stirred, and woke up completely. She stood at the top of the stairs and called down to her Mom.
“What is it?”
“There’s a letter for you! I think it’s your exam results!”

Not even five seconds passed before Gabriella was standing next to her Mom in the kitchen.
“Gimme, gimme!” She cried, taking the official-looking envelope from her Mom.
Heart racing, she ripped it open and unfolded the paper.

There was a knock on the door and Gabriella raced to answer it. It was Troy, holding a smilar envelope.
Troy!!!” Gabriella jumped into his arms and kissed him. “Mostly A’s!”
Troy laughed. “Congratulations! I told you you’d do brilliantly!” He put Gabriella down and handed her his envelope.
She took out his sheet of paper and began to read.

“I didn’t do as well as you, but I’m still pleased with myself! And I have my basketball too!” Troy smiled.
“Congratulations Troy! You did amazing!” Gabriella laughed. “God, I’m so happy!”
“Me too.” Troy kissed Gabriella passionately.
“So, what do you want to do today?” Gabriella grinned when they had pulled back.
“Well first,” Troy smiled. “I think you should put clothes on.”
Gabriella glanced down, realizing she was standing in her garden in her pyjamas! In all the excitement, she had forgotten to change!
She turned bright red and ran into the house. Troy followed, laughing at her.
“Oops.” She said. “You wait here, I’ll go change. But is it OK if we go and see Taylor before we go anywhere? She’s not feeling well.”
“Sure!” Troy smiled, proud of Gabs for being such a good friend. “I’ll go talk to your Mom.”

Troy, how many times have I told you to call me Elizabeth? Now come here and show me your results!” Mrs Montez called from the kitchen.
So Troy went to the kitchen and Gabriella raced upstairs to get ready.

Gabriella and Troy entered Taylor’s room slowly to find her lying in bed looking awful.
It was only ten in the morning and Taylor looked as if she hadn’t slept for a year.
“Hey guys,” she smiled weakly. “How are you?”
Gabriella hugged her friend. “More like how are you?”
“Urgh! I’m awful!” Taylor said. “I’m so tired and I swear, I feel like I’ve put on about 7 pounds from just lying here!”
Gabriella smiled at her. “Drama queen.”
Taylor grinned back but suddenly turned green. She ran to the bathroom, just in time to throw up in the toilet.
“Poor Taylor.” Troy murmured, sitting down on Taylor’s sofa.
“I know, I hope she feels better soon.” Gabriella agreed, sitting next to him.
Taylor came back and took her place in the bed again.
“So I heard you got your exam results!” Taylor said. “How did you do?”
“7 A’s, 1 B!” Gabriella beamed.
“4 A’s, 3 B’s and a C.” smiled Troy. “Haven’t you got your results yet?”
“No, not yet.” replied Taylor. “It’s probably just lost in the mail somewhere.”
She turned a little pale. “Urgh! I feel sick again! You guys go, I don’t want you to catch whatever I have!”
“Are you sure?” Gabriella asked. “Because we don’t mind staying here with you! Right Troy?”
“Right!” Troy nodded.
Taylor smiled at them. “I appreciate that but you should go.” She blew them a kiss and ran to the bathroom again.
“Come on then,” said Troy.
“Love you Tayls!” called Gabby, leaving the room.

The next day was Monday, and after school, Troy was in his room doing some Chemistry homework.
‘God,’ he thought, frowning to himself, ‘where’s Gabby when I need her?!’
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” Troy called.
Mr Bolton walked into Troy’s room and sat down on the bed. Troy wheeled his computer chair over to face his Dad.
“Hey Dad, what’s up?” Troy asked.
Mr Bolton took a deep breath and launched into it.
“How long have you and Gabriella been dating now?” he asked.
Troy thought for a second. “Two and a half months.”
“You guys are getting pretty serious.” Mr Bolton remarked.
“Yeah,” Troy smiled proudly.
“Soon, you guys will be wanting to… erm… show you love each other in a different way.” Mr Bolton flushed red.
‘Oh My God. Is he talking about what I think he is?!’ Troy thought, staring to worry.
“You guys will want to… “ ‘How do I put this in a way that won’t scar him for life?’ Mr Bolton thought. “Explore each others bodies.” He grew even more red.
“Woah! Dad! We don’t have to talk about this!” Troy said, holding up his hands.
“It’s just that… sεx is a big deal Troy.” Mr Bolton said, aware that he was embarrassing his son. “Don’t do anything you’ll regret later.”
“Dad! I know!” cried Troy, embarrassed. “I don’t plan on doing anything yet anyway!”
“Good.” Mr Bolton said, still flushed. “Just… If you do… Please use contrаcεptιοп.”
Troy put his head in his hands so he wouldn’t have to look at his Dad. “I know. Please leave.”
Mr Bolton laughed and patted Troy on the back before standing up and leaving. When he left the room, Troy flung himself onto his bed and screamed into his pillow.
‘Aw man!’ he thought, still so unbelievably embarrassed that his face was hot enough to fry an egg on it! ‘That was the most embarrassing thing I have ever had to sit through in my entire life! I cannot believe that just happened!’

Meanwhile, in Gabriella’s house, she was on the phone to Taylor. Again.
“How are you feeling?” Gabriella asked.
“It’s weird…” Taylor said. “I only seem to be throwing up in the morning.”
“Maybe the virus just affects you when you’re asleep?” Gabriella suggested.
“Maybe.” Taylor agreed. “Anyway, as soon as I’ve recovered, I’m heading straight to the gym! I swear I’ve put on weight since that party 3 weeks ago!”
“I’ll start coming with you. But after Saturday. That’s when Troy’s leaving and I want to be with him as much as I can.” Gabriella sighed.
“I can’t believe he’s going!”
“It’ll be amazing for his future!” Gabriella insisted. “We have to support him!”
“Ahh. I wish I had a boyfriend like Troy.”
“What about Chad? I heard you were getting to know each other at that party!” Gabriella giggled. There was silence on the other end of the phone.
“Gabs,” said Taylor. “I slept with him.”
“WHAT?”
“You heard me.”
“OHMIGOD!”
“I know!” Taylor sighed.
“Did you use… You know?”
“Yes! I remember that, even though I was drunk.”
“I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!”
“It’s OK Gabs! Calm down!”
“Okay. Okay, I’m calm.” Gabriella breathed. “Are you OK?”
“Yeah,” Taylor sighed. “I just can’t look at Chad anymore.”
Gabriella giggled a little. “So how was it?”
“I can’t remember much!” Taylor admitted honestly. “Oops.”
“I can’t believe you!” Gabriella smiled.#
At that moment, Gabriella’s mom called to her, telling her to come downstairs.
“I have to go Tay, feel better soon!”
“Bye Gabs.”

The week flew in. Troy’s departure date was coming closer and closer, and they couple were spending spare minute together. However, no-one mentioned it when they were together.
Gabriella was literally heart broken. She knew she’d miss Troy millions when her left. Troy felt the exact same way. He didn’t know what he’d do without Gabriella for five months.
“Are you psyched Son?” Mr Bolton asked him, three days before he was due to leave.
“I am!” Troy grinned. But his grin faded and he felt a little guilty. “I’m gonna miss Gabby so much though.”
“I know. But you’re gonna meet new friends and play the game you love! I wish I was going!” Mr Bolton grinned.
Troy sighed and left the kitchen. Mrs Bolton, who was washing the dishes, gave her husband an evil look.
“What?” Mr Bolton said, confused. “What did I do?”
“He’s leaving his first love for five months!” Mrs Bolton said indignantly. “Show a little sympathy, would you?”

“I can’t believe he’s actually leaving!” Gabriella said sadly, in Taylor’s room. “I mean, I knew the time would come but it’s came so fast!”
Taylor sighed. Gabriella had been complaining about this for the last week and a half to be honest, she was getting sick of it.
“Gabs! He won’t go if you tell him not to! So tell him, not me!”
Gabriella was offended. “Woah, Taylor! If it bugs you so much then I won’t talk to you at all!”
Taylor was tired and moody.
“Fine! It will be a relief to my ears that way!”
“What’s your problem?”
“It’s always all about you! What about me for a change?”
Taylor! I’ve been here every day this week, making sure you were alright! It’s not fair to say that!”
Taylor softened a little and immediately regretted what she said. “You’re right. I am so sorry.”
“No, I am!” Gabriella said, the tears in her eyes fading away.

Taylor got out of bed and hugged Gabriella hard.
“It’s just… I don’t understand why you’re talking about this to me! You have to talk to Troy!”
“I can’t. He might not go and this would be an amazing opportunity for him!”

Troy was on his laptop, chatting to Gabriella when an email appeared from Sharpay.
‘Urgh! She’s the last person I want to talk to right now!’ Troy thought. However, he clicked on the email and his eyes widened when he read it.

Hey Troy! :]
Guess what? I’m going on that Tour-thingy too! My Daddy is sponsoring it so he gets to travel with the players! He’s taking me along too as a daddy-daughter vacation! Isn’t that great? We’re gonna be spending sooo much time together!
Love, Shar xoxoxox

“WHAT?” Troy cried out loud. ‘This can not be happening? Loose Gabriella, gain Sharpay?!”

“Gabriella?” Troy said, into the phone.
Troy!” Gabriella said brightly. “I can’t believe I haven’t seen you tonight!”
“Sharpay’s going.” Troy said, holding his breath.
“To the tour? Okay.”
“Okay?” Troy let out his breath in one big whoosh.
“Yeah.”
“I thought you’d get all mad.”
“Nope. I trust you.” Gabriella smiled into the phone.
“You are the best, you know that?”
“I’ve been told.” Gabriella giggled.

It was the day before Troy left and Troyella were having a late-night swim in Troy’s pool.
“I can’t believe you’re leaving for five months.” Gabriella said yet again.
Troy pulled himself out of the water and sat next to Gabriella. She put his head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arms around her.
“Last chance to say you don’t want me to go.” Troy whispered.
“I’m not gonna say it. You’ll call me, right?” Gabriella asked.
“Everyday.”
“And we’ll instant message and I’ll probably see you on every sports channel!”
Troy laughed and held Gabriella tighter. Gabriella clung to him, not letting him see that her eyes were full of tears.

It was Troy’s leaving day. Gabriella had stayed with him so she woke up in his arms, early in the morning.
Troy,” she whispered, and nudged him until he woke up.
“Huh?” he mumbled, still half-asleep. “Oh Gabs, I don’t want to go to school today.”
Gabriella giggled, even though she was unbelievably depressed. “Get up Lazybones!”
He sat up and kissed her on the forehead. “Morning.”
Gabriella smiled. “Good morning.”

Three hours later, Troyella, making the most of the five hours they had left together, were at the park, kissing, eating ice-cream, playing by the water fountain and doing other cute couple-y things.
“Wanna go home and watch a movie?” Troy asked, holding Gabriella’s hand as she balanced on the edge of the fountain. Gabriella jumped down and kissed him lightly on the lips. “Yep.”

So that’s what they did. They put on Titanic when they got back to Troy’s house which did not do anything to help the mood. Gabriella cried into her hands through the whole movie, but more tears were spilled due to Troy leaving.

Troy?” Mr Bolton put his head around the living room door. “Go and get your suitcase, we have to leave soon.”
Troy nodded and took a deep breath, running up to his room to get his cases. Gabriella turned off the movie and put the popcorn in the kitchen, where Mrs Bolton was, preparing a meal for Troy to eat on the plane.
Mrs Bolton’s heart broke at the sight of Gabriella slowly placing the bowl in the dishwasher, tears in her eyes.
“Oh, honey,” Mrs Bolton sighed. She pulled Gabriella into a hug and her eyes filled with tears too. “I know exactly how you feel.”
“I don’t want him to go but I do at the same time!” Gabriella whispered.
“I know.”
Gabriella clung to Mrs Bolton, not realizing that Troy had entered the kitchen. He pulled Gabriella into his arms and at that moment there was a knock on the door.

It was Mrs Montez. Troy was practically her second child and she was determined to see him off. So the five of them travelled to the airport, Gabriella clutching Troy’s hand the whole way.

The mood in the departure lounge was tense. Mr and Mrs Bolton and Mrs Montez were sitting together and Gabriella was perched on Troy’s knee, neither of them saying a word.
“Could passengers for the flight to New York please report to gate 13A?” the announcement was loud and shrill, at least to Troy and Gabriella.
“That’s me.” Troy stood up and so did everyone else. Troy kissed his Mom and Mrs Montez, hugged his Dad and then turned to Gabriella who had tears spilling from her eyes.
“I’m going to miss you so much.” He said softly. She wrapped her arms around him and he kissed her passionately. “You mean the world to me babe.”
Gabriella couldn’t speak from sobbing. He took her face in his hands and looked deeply into her eyes. “I love you so much.”
Gabriella smiled weakly through her tears. “I love you too.”
Mrs Bolton and Mrs Montez were clutching each other, also sobbing at the romantic, sad scene in front of them. Even Mr Bolton looked as if he was going to burst out crying.
“Please, phone me everyday! Don’t forget!” Gabriella whispered.
Troy had tears in his eyes but he gave a slow, sad, smile. “I won’t. Promise.”
He kissed Gabriella again, the last time he would for five mnths and began walking away. Before exiting through a door which led him to the gate, he stopped and turned around.
“Love you Montez!” he grinned, a tear actually spilling from his eye.
Gabriella smiled back. “Love you too Bolton!”
Troy waved and went through the door. Gabriella sank into a chair, sobbing.
Both Mom’s ran to comfort her as Troy’s dad left in search of tissues.

Troy sat down next to the window where he was shortly joined by a little girl and an old lady, which he could only assume was the kid’s grandma.
“Hello.” The girl smiled at him. “My name is Erin and I’m six years old. I stay at one-hundred-and-forty-seven Ocean view Drive.”
“That’s nice.” Troy replied, giving Erin a quick smile. He wasn’t going to see Gabriella for five months; he wasn’t in a very good mood.

Meanwhile, Gabriella was home and intending to go straight to bed. She had just crawled under the duvet when her cell phone rang. She groaned and pulled herself out of the bed and walked over to her phone. She picked it up and pressed the Deny Call button. She was too tired to talk.
She sat the phone down on her nightstand and it began to ring again – long and loud. Groaning again, she sat up and answered the phone.
“Hello?” she asked, grumpily.
It was Taylor, sobbing loudly. She said something that Gabriella couldn’t make out because of the tears.
Taylor? I can’t hear you! Stop crying!”
Taylor took a deep breath. “Gabriella, I’m really scared!”
“What? Why?” Gabriella was wide awake now and very concerned for her best friend.
“You know I’ve been ill for about three and a half weeks now?” Taylor cried.
“Yeah?”
“I’ve been thinking about it Gabs… I have all the pregnancy symptoms!”
Gabriella thought about this. Taylor was throwing up from morning to afternoon, was being really grumpy, had been sleeping much more than usual and had put on weight…
“Oh. My. Gosh. Taylor!” she exclaimed.
Taylor began to cry again. “You think I’m pregnant too?”
“It’s a possibility.” Gabriella said, jumping out of her bed and pulling on a wrinkled pair of jeans. “Are your parent’s home?”
“No,” Taylor sobbed. “They’re at a wedding in San Francisco for tonight and tomorrow.”
“I’m coming over.” Gabriella said worriedly into the phone. “And I’m stopping at a drug store to buy a pregnancy test.”
“Okay.” Taylor sniffed and hung up the phone.

Gabriella left the house as quietly as she could, in order not to wake her Mom. She drove to the all-night drug store as quickly as she could and ran to the pregnancy test aisle.
‘Oh man,’ Gabriella thought. ‘What one do I choose?’
She grabbed two of different brands and hurried to the counter to pay.

Mr Bolton was annoyed. Mrs Bolton was wide awake at home, having bad period pains and he was the one who had to go and buy tampons. Again.
He grabbed her favorite brand off of the shelf of the all-night drug store and walked up to the counter. There were a few people in front of him and he smiled as he recognized Gabriella. His smile faded as he saw her shove two pregnancy tests in a carrier bag and rush out of the store, not even noticing him standing there.

When Gabriella pulled up outside Taylor’s house, Taylor was already waiting for her at the front door. Gabriella ran to her friend and hugged her. She then put her hand into the carrier bag and pulled out a pregnancy test. She thrust it into Taylor’s hand and Taylor walked to the bathroom, slowly and dizzily.
Taylor emerged a second later.
“Well?” Gabriella whispered.
“I don’t know yet. It’ll be three minutes.” Taylor whispered back. “I’m so scared Gabs.”
Gabriella hugged her, yet again. “I know. Tay, if you are, you know. Pregnant. I just want you to know that I’ll be there with you, and I’ll support you.”
Taylor gave her friend a weak smile and returned the hug.
When she pulled back she glanced at her watch and took a deep breath.
“It’s time.” She said.

Taylor picked up the stick, still looking at Gabriella.
“I can’t do it Gabs. You look.” Taylor sighed.
“Are you sure?” Gabriella asked.
“Yeah. Just do it. Now.” Taylor held up her breath.
Gabriella, who also was shaking a little took the test from Taylor. She glanced at it and then briefly closed her eyes. She checked the test again to make sure she wasn’t seeing things.
Tay,” Gabriella said softly. “You’re pregnant.”
Taylor collapsed into a chair, tears filling her eyes. “I am?”
Gabriella nodded and rubbed Taylor on the back. “How do you feel?”
“I don’t know.” Even though Taylor had the results of the test, she was still shaking. “Scared. And a little relieved that I don’t have a disease or something.”
Gabriella gave a shaky laugh. “So what now?”
“I have no idea.” Taylor said. “I’ve never been pregnant before.”
“You should tell Chad.” Gabriella said. “It is Chad’s, right?”
“Of course Gabs!” Taylor exclaimed. “What kind of girl do you think I am?!”
“Okay, okay. We have to tell your parents too.” said Gabs.
“OHMYGOSH! I completely forgot about them! They’re gonna hate me!”
”They won’t hate you.”
“Oh, they will!”
The girls were silent.
“I have a baby in my tummy.” Taylor suddenly said.
“Wow, you’re quick to catch on.” said Gabriella.
Taylor ignored the sarcasm. “This is unbelievable.” Her hands flew to her tummy protectively. “I’m gonna be a Mom.”
“Are you happy about this?” Gabriella asked, in disbelief.
“I’m not sure.” Taylor replied sadly. “But I just have to get used to it.”

Troy, had fallen asleep on the plane, after making light conversation with Erin, the talkative six year old.
He woke up due to some turbulence and got up to go to the bathroom.
After finishing up, he glanced at himself in the mirror and got the shock of his life.
On his forehead, large red letters spelled out the name E R I N.

Man!” Troy exclaimed, scrubbing his forehead with paper towels. “Can this day get any worse?”
When he got back to his seat, Erin looked at him, dismayed.
“You washed it off Troy!” she said.
“Yeah,” Troy said. “That wasn’t a very nice thing to do.”
“Can I have a drink?” Erin asked the air hostess as she walked past.
Erin was given orange juice which she spilled all over Troy’s jeans before she had even taken a sip!
“Urgh!” Troy stood up and at that moment, the air hostess appeared next to them.
“Mr Bolton?” she asked.
“Yeah?”
“Someone you know in first class wishes that you would join them.”
“Who?”
“Miss Sharpay Evans?”
Troy looked back at his soaking wet seat, Erin who was sitting eating the remains of his chocolate bar and at his jeans.
“Yeah, okay.”
He grabbed his flight bag and followed the hostess to first class.

The next day in Albuquerque, Gabriella woke up next to Taylor, feeling bad for her friend.
“Come on Tay,” Gabriella said. “Time to wake up.”
Taylor sat up and straight away, her hands flew to her tummy.
“Oh God,” she said. “I have to tell Chad today, don’t I?”
Gabriella nodded and passed Taylor the phone. She took a deep breath and dialed Chad’s number. Taylor put the phone on loudspeaker.
“Hey, who’s this?” came Chad’s voice.
Taylor looked at Gabriella like a rabbit caught in headlights and pressed the End Call button.
Taylor! You’re only asking him to come over!”
Taylor nodded and dialed again?
“Hello? Who is this?” came Chad’s voice.
Chad, it’s Taylor.” Taylor said softly.
“Oh hey Tay! So, when are we going to hook up again?” Chad laughed.
Taylor closed her eyes. “You have to come over. Now.”
She hung up and ran to the bathroom where she promptly threw up.

Troy walked into the first class section to find white interior with TV screens, luxury food, books and magazines everywhere, soft carpeted flooring and spacious seats. He smiled and began looking for Sharpay. He didn’t really want to see her but anything was better than Erin!
Troy!” Sharpay was sipping pink lemonade and she motioned for him to sit beside her.
“Hey Sharpay,” said Troy, taking a seat. “Thanks for rescuing me!”
Sharpay let out a girly giggle. “You’re welcome. Are you excited about the games?”
“Yeah.” Troy smiled. “I just wish Gabby could have come though.”
Sharpay nodded, as if she understood.
‘He won’t be thinking that when I’m through with him!’ she thought, smiling.

When Taylor had finished throwing up, she ran to her closet to find something to wear.
“Trying to impress him?” Gabriella asked, smiling slightly.
“Shut up Gabs!” Taylor smiled back. She pulled out a denim skirt and a tight green top.
“I’m not gonna be able to fit into these again!” she said. “Better make the most of them.”
She applied eyeliner and lipgloss as Gabriella sat on the bed, watching her.
“Do you want me to go?” Gabriella asked.
“No way! You have to wait in the kitchen or something! Please?” Taylor cried.
“Sure Tay, don’t worry.”
There was a knock at the door and Taylor jumped up and took a deep breath.
“Oh God,” she said. “Here we go.”
Gabby hid in the kitchen as Taylor led Chad through to the living room.
“Aren’t we going up to your room?” Chad asked.
Chad! We’re not doing it! I have to tell you something.” Taylor sighed.
“What?”
“That night we…you know, the cοиdοм must have broke.”
A chill ran through Chad. “What are you saying?”
“I’m pregnant. And you’re the Dad.”
There was a silence. And then Chad stood up.

“It’s not mine.”
Taylor stood up too, her eyes on Chad. “Yes it is.”
“It’s not! I want a DNA test!”
Chad!” Taylor cried with tears in her eyes. “It’s your baby! I’ve only ever slept with you!”
“Prove it.” Chad said coldly.
“I swear to you Chad, it’s yours.”
Chad looked Taylor in the eyes and realized she was telling the truth.
“I don’t want it. Have an abortion.”
“No way! I can’t do that!” Taylor sobbed.
“Then I want nothing to do with you or that thing!”
“That thing is our baby Chad! Please think this through.”
“No.”
Gabriella had had enough. Her anger was growing as she listened to Chad being such a jerk. She rushed into the living room, glaring at Chad. She pointed him in the direction of the door.
“Get out Chad. Right now.”
He didn’t argue and made his way towards the door, slamming it on the way out. Gabriella hugged Taylor who cried into her shoulder.
“I can’t believe he did that!” Gabriella whispered, tears in her own eyes.
Mr and Mrs Bolton were in their kitchen. Mr Bolton was drinking coffee and Mrs Bolton was reading the paper.
“Honey,” said Mr Bolton warily. “I have to tell you something?”
Mrs Bolton looked up from her paper. “What?”
“Last night at the drug store, I saw Gabriella.”
Mrs Bolton smiled. “What was she doing at an all-night drug store?”
“Well, she didn’t see me. But I saw what she was buying?”
“And what was that?”
“A pregnancy test.”
Mrs Bolton looked stunned. “Get her over here. Now.”
Mr Bolton nodded, and dialed Gabriella’s number.

Gabriella was still comforting Taylor when her cell phone rang.
“Hello?” she said.
“Gabriella, this is Mr Bolton.”
“Oh, hi! How are you?” she smiled.
“I’m good thanks. I was wondering if you’d like to come over for lunch?”
“Erm, sure.”
“Okay. I’ll see you in about an hour?”
“That’s fine.”
“Bye Gabriella.”
“Bye.”
Gabriella turned to Taylor, confused. “That was Mr Bolton. He wanted me to go for lunch?”
“Why?” Taylor wiped her eyes.
“I have no idea.”

Troy was beyond relieved when the plane landed. He had spent four hours sitting next to the most annoying six year old on the planet and the rest of it listening to Sharpay brag about her rich ‘Daddy’.
He got into a cab that the company had provided for him, and it took him to the New York Plaza.
Once he had checked in, he collapsed on his bed and fell asleep immediately, dreaming of Gabriella.

Gabriella knocked on the Bolton’s door, unsure of what to expect.
Mrs Bolton opened the door and immediately hugged Gabriella with tears in her eyes.
“Woah! Mrs Bolton! Is there anything wrong?”
Mrs Bolton pulled back and led Gabriella to the kitchen. “Let’s have coffee.”
Five minutes later, Gabriella was sitting opposite the Bolton’s sipping coffee. She was still unsure what was going on – Mrs Bolton kept giving her strange looks.
“Okay Gabriella. We’ll just get straight to it.” Mr Bolton said. “Last night, I had to go to the drug store and I saw you there.”
Gabriella began to understand. ‘Oh! He saw me buy the… Ohmygod! He saw the pregnancy test! He thinks that-‘
Her thoughts were interrupted.

“I know you’re pregnant! He saw you buy the test!” Mrs Bolton cried. “Oh Gabs, I’m so happy, annoyed, furious and proud at the same time!”
“Woah!” Gabriella held up her hands. “The test-“
“I didn’t expect to be a granddad at this age,” Mr Bolton cut in. “Does your Mom know yet?”
“But-“ Gabriella tried to cut in.
“Of course her Mother knows!”
“Well, she might have been too scared to tell her.”
“Sssshhh!” Gabriella exclaimed. “The test wasn’t for me! Troy and I haven’t even… you know.” She blushed.
“It’s not… You haven’t… But I…” Mrs Bolton stuttered. She stood up and wrapped her arms around the embarrassed Gabriella again. “Oh thank god! I’d love grandkids but not now!”
Gabriella hugged her back.
“Wait a minute. It wasn’t yours?” Mr Bolton suddenly said. “Who was it for?”
Gabriella really didn’t want to tell everyone Taylor’s business. “I can’t tell you.”
“Well, can you tell us if it was positive?” Mrs Bolton asked worriedly.
Gabriella nodded.

The next day, Troy had no games on so he woke up a little later. He had just gotten dressed, when there was a knock on the door. It was Sharpay.
Troy!” she smiled. “Wanna go sightseeing? I’ve been to New York lots of times so I thought I’d be your tour guide.”
Troy thought for a second. He found Sharpay to be a spoiled brat but he really did want to see the city. “Okay.”
“Lets go then!”

Taylor sat alone in her room, cradling her tummy.
“Hey little guy,” she whispered. “Don’t worry about daddy, mommy’s here.”
She smiled a little at the word ‘Mommy’. Being pregnant at such a young age was probably the worst thing that could happen but she couldn’t help feeling a little excited at the fact that she was going to be a mom.
Taylor had always been good with kids and loved them, so the parenting side of things would be no problem. Financially she would struggle.
"Don't worry. Everything's gonna be ok." she whispered

Gabriella hardly had time to think about Troy for the next few days. She was taking care of Taylor who still hadn’t told her parents and Troy had been training and playing games constantly.
She was in her car, driving to Taylor’s when her cell phone rang. She pressed the “Speaker” button.
“Hello?”
“Hey gorgeous.”
Troy!” Gabriella beamed. “How are you? How’s New York? I miss you!”
Troy laughed. “I’m good, New York’s good and I miss you too.”
Gabriella giggled. “Have you been seeing the city?”
“Yeah. With Sharpay.”
”Oh.” Gabriella wasn’t sure how she felt about that.
“Don’t worry babe, she hasn’t tried anything.” Troy said, reading her thoughts.
Gabriella smiled to herself. ‘How does he do that?’ she thought.
“So! Anything big happened whilst I’ve been away?” Troy asked.
“Yeah.” said Gabriella calmly. “Taylor’s pregnant with Chad’s baby.”
“Holy sh*t!” Troy exclaimed. “Are you serious?”
“Yep.”
“How is Taylor? Is she OK? How did Chad take it??” Troy was genuinely concerned.
Taylor’s feeling a little better but Chad did not take it well. He wants her to have an abortion and doesn’t want anything to do with it.” Gabriella exclaimed, feeling her heart pang with sadness for Taylor.
“Aw man! I’m calling Chad later! I’m gonna talk some sense into that idiot!”
“Don’t get too involved Troy.” Gabriella warned. “It’s really none of our business.”
“What are you doing now?” Troy asked her.
“I’m pulling up at Taylor’s driveway. I think she’s gonna tell her parents today.
“Oh. Well, give her a hug for me. I gotta go baby.”
Gabriella smiled at the word ‘baby’. He made her feel so special.
“I love you.” She said into the phone.
“I love you too. I’ll call you later.”

Troy’s team won their first game. Troy, adrenaline pumping through him and sweat dripping down him took his water bottle and poured it over him by the sidelines.
Bolton!” a team-mate called. “Party tonight! You coming?!”
“Nah,” Troy grinned. “I think I’m just gonna go to the hotel.”
“No you’re not!” Sharpay appeared and hugged Troy, not caring that she was getting wet. “You’re coming for a victory dinner with me!”
Troy was to happy to say no. “Sure!”
Sharpay smiled at him and fluttered her eyelashes.
‘Give me two weeks’ she thought. ‘He’s mine.’

Gabriella sat in Taylor’s bright kitchen beside her friend. They were eating ice-cream when Taylor’s parents came in, smiling.
“Mom! Dad!” Taylor said, the smile disappearing from her face. “I have to tell you something.”
“What is it sweetie?” Taylor’s Mom sat across from her.
“I did something really stupid,” Taylor began. “I got drunk at Chad’s house party.”
Her parents looked shocked. “Taylor! I think-“
Taylor held up her hands. “I’m not finished.”
Her parents nodded at her to continue and Gabriella took her hand under the table. Taylor was shaking.
“I got drunk and I… I slept with Chad. We used contraception but I’m pregnant.” She said it quickly and it took a minute for the fact to process.
“I… I… This… You….” Taylor’s Dad looked as if he was about to have a heart attack. Taylor’s Mom rushed and gave her daughter a hug. “Are you okay sweetie?”
Taylor nodded weakly. “I’m fine.”
”Are you okay sweetie?” her Dad yelled. “How can you be OK about this?” He turned to Taylor. “I am so disappointed in you! How could you?”
“Dad, it was an accident!”
Taylor’s Mom put an arm around her protectively. “Leave the lecture for today! Have you told Chad?”
Taylor burst out in tears. “Yes! And he wants nothing to do with me or the baby! He wants me to have an abortion.”
“And I agree with him!” her dad said sternly.

Sorry if this chapter isn’t as good as the usual ones. I’m sick today and don’t really have the ener

“So how are you liking the city?” Sharpay smiled at Troy over her soup.
Troy grinned back, still on a high from winning the team’s first game. “It’s awesome!”
“Do you miss Albuquerque yet?”
“No, not yet. I miss some people in it though.” Troy admitted.
“Like Gabriella?” Sharpay pursued his comment, eyebrows raised.
“Yeah.” Troy said softly. “What about you? How’s your love life?”
“Non-existant since you dumped me.” She said coolly.
Troy blushed. “Sorry about that.”
“Ahh, Troy, don’t worry!” Sharpay giggled. “I’m way over that!”
Troy smiled at her, relieved.
After dinner, they walked back to the hotel, which wasn’t too far away.
Outside Sharpay’s room, she quickly pecked Troy on the cheek.
“I had a nice time Troy.” She smiled, resting her hand on his arm.
Troy was feeling a little uncomfortable. “Yeah, me too.”
Sharpay winked and made her way into her room. Troy sighed and went to his room, ready for a long shower and bed.

Gabriella had long since left Taylor’s house and was in her room, listening to music.
“Gabriella!” her Mom called from downstairs. “Could you come here please?”
She walked downstairs to the kitchen, to find her Mom with a tall man, late thirties with dark hair.
“Gabs, this is Mike.” Mrs Montez smiled up at the guy.
“Hey there, Kiddo.” Mike grinned.
‘Kiddo?’ Gabriella thought scornfully. ‘What am I, ten?’
She put a fake smile on her face and stuck out her hand. The guy laughed and shook it.
“I’m Gabriella.” She said. “I’m seventeen.”
“Really? You’re too short to be seventeen!” Mike said.
Gabriella, clenched her teeth. “So I’ve been told.”
“Mike and I have been seeing each other for a while now.” Mrs Montez smiled at her. “And you’re the first to know that we’re officially going steady now!”
Mike put his arm around Mrs Montez.
Gabs wasn’t sure how she felt about this, but she kept the smile on her face for her mother’s sake. “Congratula

“She has to get rid of that baby!” Mr McKessie yelled at his wife, in the living room of the McKessie household.
“No way! That’s murder!” his wife yelled back! “That baby is our grandchild!”
“She’s only seventeen! It’s gonna ruin her life!”
“Killing it will ruin her life!”
“Guys!” Taylor stood up and interrupted them. “It’s my baby, and it was conceived by accident but I’m growing to love it!” she turned to her dad. “There is absoloutley no way I’m killing or giving up this baby.”
Her Mom smiled at her encouragingly but her dad glared at her coldly.
“Fine.” He said. “Then you are no daughter of mine.”
He left the house and slammed the door hard.
Mrs McKessie and Taylor stood staring at each other, stunned, in the living room, none of them being able to say a word.

“There’s only twenty-eight seconds left in the game!” the announcer said into the microphone. “New York has the ball! Oh no, wait! Bolton has taken it! It’s in Albuquerque’s hands!”
Troy dribbled the ball down the court, concentrating on who to pass it to. He glanced around quickly.
‘Damn!’ he thought. ‘No-one’s free!’
He kept running, avoiding various opponents, desperate to get the ball from him. There was the net, coming up straight ahead. With all the strength he had left, he threw the ball to the hoop.
The buzzer sounded. The court was silent.
‘TROY BOLTON SCORES THE WINNING BASKET! ALBUQUERQUE WINS!” the announcer screamed.
He had did it again! Suddenly, he was being lifted high into the air by his team-mates.
“Go Bolton!”
“Yes, Man!”
“Way to go Dude!”
“Congrats Troy!” Sharpay had appeared yet again. “Does this mean another celebration dinner?”
The guys put Troy down in order to go and shower. Troy faced Sharpay. “How about we go dancing! It’s our last night in New York! Tomorrow, we’re heading to Washington!”
Sharpay grinned, happy that Troy was in a good mood – it might make her plan happen faster!

Sharpay was beyond annoyed. Troy hadn’t asked her to go dancing as a date. The whole team and the cheerleaders were going for a night out and Troy had asked Sharpay to go with them, just to be nice.
‘Still’ she thought, sipping a Pepsi at one of New York’s most popular clubs. ‘I’m glad I'm here. And if all goes well, I’ll have Troy by the end of the night.’
Troy sat down next to Sharpay with a couple of team-mates he’d become good friends with. They were laughing and joking and generally, being guys.
“Hey Troy,” Sharpay said. “Come and dance with me?”
Troy smiled at Sharpay, still on a high from scoring the winning basket earlier on. “Sure, why not?”
They got up and walked to the dance floor. Sharpay wrapped Troy’s arms around her waist and she put her arms around his shoulders. It was a fast song so she shook her hips and danced close up against him. Troy was uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Gabriella was sitting in the dining room with her Mom and Mike, making polite conversation over the spaghetti bolognaise.
“So, Gabriella. Where do you go to school?” Mike asked.
“East High.” Gabriella replied, taking a bite of her garlic bread.
“Oh! I went there when I was younger. Tell me, is Mr Bavis still teaching there?”
“Yeah. He teaches chemistry, right?”
“Right!”
Mrs Montez watched Gabriella, who wasn’t making much of an effort to get to know Mike at all. She sighed quietly.
“May I please be excused?” she said.
Mrs Montez nodded and Gabriella took her dishes into the kitchen. She then ran upstairs to her bedroom, where she immediately flopped down on her bed and dialed Troy’s number on her cell phone.
“Hey! This is Troy! You know what to do.”
A beep sounded for Gabriella to leave a message. She sighed.
“Hey Babe, its Gabs. I need to talk to you. I miss you. Call me!”
She hung up and took out her history homework.

Troy sat back down. He hated to admit it, but once they had gotten into the song, he enjoyed dancing with Sharpay! Sharpay was an amazing dancer.
“How did you get so good at dancing, Sharpay?” a cheerleader who had been watching them asked Sharpay.
“I took lessons up until I was fifteen.” Sharpay smirked. “I’ve won loads of trophies.”
Troy was impressed. “Really?” he asked, turning his phone on. An alert popped up, telling him he had a new message.
“Yeah.” Sharpay grinned. “Jealous Bolton?”
Troy laughed and listened to the message. Gabriella sounded sad. Worried, he called her back.

Gabriella was writing a short essay when her cell rang.
“Hello?”
“Hey Baby!” Troy said, sounding cheerful.
Troy! Did you get my message?”
“I did…”
Gabriella couldn’t hear him over loud laughter and music. “What?”
“I said, are you OK?”
“What? Troy, is this a bad time?”

Troy, signaled to the people he was sitting with. “Shut up! I can’t hear her!”
“Is that Gabriella?” Sharpay smiled.
‘Time for phase one of my plan’ she thought, and took the phone out of Troy’s hands.
“Gabriella?” she smiled into the phone. “It’s me, Sharpay.”

Gabriella was confused. “Oh, hi Sharpay.”
“Just letting you know that I am so jealous of you! Troy is a wonderful dancer! And did he tell you he scored the winning shot today?! You should be so proud of him!”
Gabriella was silent.
“Hey Gabs, it’s Troy again.”
”Whatever Troy. Call me when you’re not on a date with that brat!” she hung up and flung the phone across the room.
‘I don’t need this!’ she thought, and got into her bed, flinging her homework onto the floor.

Chad was lying on his bed, feeling sorry for himself.
‘I’m gonna be a Dad.’ He thought. It made no sense in his head so he said it out loud.
“I’m gonna be a Dad.” He sat up. “To a baby. Who I wanted Tay to kill.”
He jumped out of bed and pulled on his jeans. He grabbed his car keys and sprinted to the car.
He drove to Taylor’s house, not caring that it is quarter to twelve at night.

Troy couldn’t be mad at Sharpay. Technically, she didn’t do anything wrong. He sighed and stood up.
”Well guys, I’m gonna go back to the hotel.”
“Do you mind if I walk back with you?” Sharpay asked. “I don’t really know anyone else here and I gave my driver the night off.”
“Sure.”

“Would you please, think of what you’re asking her to do?” Mrs McKessie begged her husband.
Taylor’s parents were in the living room and Taylor herself was in her bedroom.
“I’m asking her to get rid of a bunch of cells.” Mr McKessie replied calmly.
“You’re wrong!” Mrs McKessie cried. “She’s almost two months pregnant! They’re developing into a baby!”
“She’s too young!” Mr McKessie was exasperated. “She’s seventeen years old!”
“She’ll be eighteen next year.” Mrs McKessie replied. “And I agree, it’s not the best time to have a baby but what’s done is done. This baby is our grandchild.”
Mr McKessie sighed and at that moment, the doorbell rang. He stood up and went to answer the door. Taylor came downstairs and hugged her Mom.
“Thanks for sticking up for me Mom.” She smiled.
“He’ll come around… eventually.”

Chad walked into the living room, followed by Mr McKessie with a look of disgust on his face.
Chad?” Taylor said, astonished. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Taylor, I am so sorry!” Chad said, ignoring Taylor’s question. “I said some stupid stuff and it was so unexpected and I regret it! I really want to be a part of your – our – baby’s life.”
Taylor stood still for a moment, not saying anything. Her Mom and Dad looked on, shocked.
Then, the tension was broken by Taylor hugging Chad. “Of course you can be a part of the baby’s life. You were responsible for half of it!”
Chad hugged Taylor back, tears in both their eyes.
“I am so sorry.” He said again.
“I understand why you said those things.” Taylor whispered back. “I forgive you.”

Gabriella woke up the next morning to find eight missed calls – all from Troy. Her phone rang again, just as she had put it back down.
“Hello?” she said sleepily.
“Gabby! It’s Troy!” Troy cried.
“Hi.” She said coldly.
“You have it all wrong babe! It was a group thing! And I only danced with her because she doesn’t know anyone else here and you know I hate saying no to people!”
Gabriella smiled. “I’m sorry.”
“Me too. I actually have to go – I’m about to get on a plane. Love you!”
“I love you too!” Gabriella laughed. She hung up and left the room, intending to go and make some toast. On her way, she bumped into Mike, leaving the bathroom in only his boxers.
He smiled at her and went into her Mom’s room.
“Ew!” she whispered, and went downstairs.
he weeks flew past. Gabriella watched her Mom and Mike grow closer, Taylor’s bump grew and her Dad no longer took notice that she was there, and Sharpay and Troy were becoming close friends. He no longer saw her as a spoilt brat, but someone funny from home. If possible, she made him a little less homesick.

One Saturday morning, two weeks after school closed (Troy had permission to take a few weeks off due to the tour), Gabriella was watching TV alone in her house. She had no plans and her Mom was with Mike. Again! She sniffed. Romeo and Juliet always made her cry, no matter how many times she watched it. She jumped at a loud knock at the door.
It was Ryan, Sharpay’s brother. Gabriella knew him quite well, thanks to the years she had spent volunteering for the Drama Club to get extra credit.
“Ryan!” she hugged him and ushered him inside. “What are you doing here?”
Ryan grinned. “Surprising you!”
They went into the kitchen and Gabriella poured them a drink. “Surprising me?”
Ryan handed her an envelope. She opened it and looked at Ryan.
“What’s this?”
Inside the envelope was a pass to get on the Evans’ private jet.
“It’s to let you get on my jet.”
“Obviously, but why are you giving it to me?”
“Tonight, I’m leaving to go to Michigan to watch the game tomorrow with my Dad and Shar. You wanna come and see Troy?”
Gabriella’s eyes filled with tears. She couldn’t move.
“What?” Ryan, asked concerned. “What is it?”
”Ry, you’re the best!” Gabriella flung her arms around him and Ryan laughed.
“Seriously, this is so sweet of you! Thank you so much!”
”You’re welcome.” Ryan laughed. “Now let me go!”
Gabriella let go and Ryan stood up to leave. “I have to go pack. Meet me at the airport at four. Don’t pack too much! It’s only for a day! I know what you girls are like.”
Gabriella giggled and saw him off. Then, singing happily, she went upstairs to pac

Later that day, Gabriella was literally bouncing up and down, explaining the situation to her Mom and Mike, who was at her house, yet again.
“Please say you’ll let me go! Please!”
Mrs Montez laughed. “Of course you can go sweetie but you’ll have to ask Mike to take you. My car broke down today.”
‘Mike and me? Alone in a car? Eww.’ Gabriella thought. She still hadn’t come around to Mike and Mike was still treating her like a kid. Still, she was not passing up an opportunity to see Troy.
“Mike?” she turned her Mom’s boyfriend and gave him puppy-dog eyes. “Can you take me to the airport? Please, please, please??”
Mike laughed and held up his hands in mock surrender. “Okay Kiddo, go get your stuff.”
“Done!” Gabriella pointed to the corner of the living room where a small suitcase and her handbag stood, ready to be picked up. “I put them there three hours ago. Now let’s go!”

“I can’t believe you’re having my baby.” Chad smiled at Taylor.
They were in Chad’s room, waiting for his parents to come home to tell them the news.
Chad placed his hand on Taylor’s tummy. “I’m excited.”
Taylor laughed. “Me too. I’m two months and two weeks pregnant! Six months, two weeks to go!” she paused thoughtfully. “I can’t believe we waited this long to tell your parents.”
“I was just waiting to make sure everything went OK with the pregnancy.” Chad said. “They love kids so I didn’t want to get their hopes up.”
“You really think they’ll be OK with this?” Taylor asked.
“Yeah, I think they will. They don’t really pay much attention to me anyway!” Chad said, with a weak smile.

Gabriella squealed to Ryan and Mr Evans in the jet.
”I’ve never been on a private plane before! I’m so excited.”
The guys laughed.
“Have you told Troy, you’re coming yet?” Ryan asked.
“Nope, it’s gonna be a surprise!” Gabriella laughed. “I’m so excited!” she squealed

Gabriella intended to go straight to Troy’s hotel suite but when they arrived at the hotel, all she wanted to do was sleep. She was sharing the penthouse suite with Ryan and his Dad, which had four bedrooms within the suite! She dragged herself to her room, flung her suitcase in the large closet and sunk into her bed, not even bothering to change into her night clothes.
Troy is in the same hotel as me.’ She thought, her eyes closed. ‘He’s in the same building.’ She felt butterflies in her tummy just thinking about him.

Troy was lying in his bed, his suite right underneath Gabriella’s. Obviously, he didn’t know that.
‘I miss Gabs so much.’ The longer he was away, the more homesick he became. ‘Only four months to go.’

The next morning, Gabriella changed into jeans and a sparkly blue top as fast as she could. She ran a brush through her hair and put on a layer of strawberry lip-gloss.
She shoved on some flip-flops and rushed to the hotel reception.
“Excuse me?” she said to the bored-looking receptionist.
The receptionist looked up, her manicured hand, shoving a piece of gum in her heavily made-up mouth. “Yeah?”
“Could you please tell me what room Troy Bolton is in?”
The receptionist eyed Gabriella up and down. “I can’t give you that information.”
“Oh, but-“ Gabriella began.
The receptionist interrupted. “He’s not even in anyway. He’s gonna be out all day at some training thing. The whole baseball team is.”
“Basketball. Where do they train?”
“Like I care.”
Gabriella sighed and made her way back up to her room. Maybe Ryan and her could go for a walk or something.

Bolton! Get your head in the game!” the official coach yelled at Troy.
“Sorry!” Troy swiftly grabbed the ball of another player and aimed it at the basket. It missed.
‘Man!’ he thought. ‘What the hell is wrong with me today?’
“You’d better play better tonight!” The coach warned.
“I will Coach, I’m sorry.” said Troy, but more interested in the hot dog that was currently calling his name from the cafeteria.

The players arrived on the court, that night to much cheering, and screaming.
When Gabriella caught sight of Troy, she tried screaming his name, but over the cheers of the crowd, he had no chance of hearing her.

Gabriella could tell that Troy wasn’t at his best because of the way he played. He usually put all he could into the game but that night, it looked like he’d much rather be someone else. She was concerned.
Gabs spent all the game staring at Troy, not even paying attention to the score.
“Troy!” she screamed at a random moment and Troy suddenly looked up.
She waved and smiled and watched as Troy’s whole face lit up.

‘Oh My God! Gabriella!’ Troy thought, beyond happy. He could hardly stop in the middle of the game but he added extra effort to make Gabby proud of him and as usual, his team won.
“Yeah! Bolton! You did it again!”
Troy ignored his team-mates after the buzzer signaled the end of the game and he ran towards the stands to the crowd and his team’s confusion. Gabriella stood up and made her way to the stairs by her row, where Troy swept her off her feet and kissed her passionately, in front of the huge audience, who were watching their every move.
When Gabriella pulled back, she buried herself into Troy’s shoulders, and he smelled her hair.
‘Yep,’ he thought. ‘She’s still using that coconut shampoo.’
Gabriella had tears in her eyes. “I’ve missed you so much Troy.”
Troy closed his eyes, not daring to let go of his girlfriend, not even for a moment. “I’ve missed you too.”

The stands started to clear as the game was finished, but Troy and Gabriella stood holding each other, beaming happily.
“You smell really bad.” Gabriella giggled.
“What do you expect after playing basketball under huge lights?” Troy laughed and ran his fingers through his hair. “But you’re right, I should go take a shower.”
“I’ll wait here, with Ryan.”
“OK.” Troy kissed Gabriella again and ran off to get a shower.
Gabriella sighed happily and went to sit next to Ryan, who was waiting for Sharpay.
“Best moment of my life.” She giggled.
Ryan laughed at the goofy grin on her face. “Close your mouth, you might catch a fly!”
Gabriella laughed and punched Ryan on the arm jokingly.

Troy emerged from the locker-rooms looking ecstatic.
“Right,” he said, kissing Gabriella yet again, and putting his arm around her. “Where are we going?”
“Anywhere. But it won’t be for long. We have to leave at two in the morning.”
“You do?”
“Yeah.”
“So that gives us… six hours. Five if you have to be at the airport.” Troy said.
“Well, then, what can we do in five hours?” Gabriella smiled.
“First, we go for dinner, second, we go dancing, third, we go back to my room and make out.”
“Woah!” Ryan stood up and held up his hands. “Too much info guys! I’m going to find Sharpay! Behave yourselves!” he laughed and left the court, so it was just Troy and Gabriella in the huge room by themselves.
“I’d say that sounds like a plan.” Gabriella smiled and hugged Troy again. “I can’t believe I’m standing here with you!”
“I know!” Troy smiled, hugging her back. “I’ve missed you!”

“Where are we going for dinner?”
Troy smiled at Gabriella as they walked along the busy Michigan street, with a few restaurants,
“There!” Gabby pointed to a small but friendly looking place, which had some outside seats.
“OK.”
They went inside, sat down and their order was taken.

How’s Taylor?” Troy suddenly asked.
“She’s fine. Chad came around.” Gabriella smiled.
“Ah, so my pep talk worked.” Troy grinned. “I called him and told him not to be such an idiot.”
“It worked!” Gabriella confirmed. “They’re actually dating now.”
“Wow.” Troy smiled. “Good for them.”
“So, when will you be home then?” Gabriella asked.
“Three months and three weeks.” Troy sighed.

Troyella decided to skip dancing and went straight back to the hotel to talk.
Sitting on the bed, Gabriella was telling Troy about Mike and Troy was laughing.
“Don’t laugh! It’s not funny!” Gabriella protested.
“Come on Gabs, he’s trying his best!” Troy grinned. “Be nice.”
”I’m always nice!” Gabriella smiled angelically.
“You’re never nice.”
Gabriella hit Troy with a pillow.
“See?! You just proved my point!” Troy laughed. He stood up and put some music on. “Let’s dance.”
“But it’s just us two in the room.” Gabriella smiled.
“Which means you won’t hurt anyone with your big feet!” Troy winked.
“I’m sorry, is this Let’s All Insult Gabriella Day?” Gabriella giggled. But she stood up and Troy took her in his arms and they began to dance.

“I love you.” Troy said seriously when they sat back down.
“So you’ve said about four hundred times.” Gabriella grinned. “But I love you too.”
Troy leaned forward and kissed Gabriella, slowly and passionately and Gabriella responded by moving closer and putting her arms around his neck. It was the perfect kiss.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
“Gabriella? You in there?” a voice called.
Gabriella pulled away from Troy and got up to answer the door. It was Ryan.
“What’s wrong Ry?” Gabriella asked.
“There’s a storm coming. We have to leave now, in order to miss the storm and get home safely.”
“Oh.” Gabriella’s heart sank. “OK. I’ll go and get my stuff then.”

Troy watched sadly as Gabriella put her suitcase in the limo. She stood up and wrapped her arms around Troy.
“Are you sure you can’t come to the airport?” Gabriella asked.
“I can’t. I have to go to bed early, and there’s traffic.” Troy sighed.
“I don’t want to say goodbye again.” Gabriella whispered. Her eyes filled with tears. “I shouldn’t have come!”
“No!” Troy protested. He lifted Gabriella’s chin up so that he was looking at her in the eyes. “I’m glad you came – it was amazing to see you.”
“You too.” Gabriella smiled.
Troy leaned in and kissed her softly. “Bye Gabs.”
“Bye.” Gabriella closed her eyes and a tear ran down her cheek, disguised by the heavy rain that started pouring from the sky. She turned away from Troy and got in the huge car. She smiled weakly at Troy as the car pulled away from the pavement and head to the airport.
His new friend David, came out of the hotel to find Troy staring after the car.
“Hey Dude.” He said, patting him on the shoulder. “Go after her!”
“Nah,” Troy sighed. “No point. I can’t exactly quit the tour or make her stay, can I?”
He walked back into the hotel; to his room and to his bed.

“Hey,” Ryan turned to Gabriella softly as she finally pulled herself away from the window and stared at her feet instead. “Are you OK?”
Gabriella sighed and put on a fake smiled. “Yeah,” she said, looking up at him. “I’m just fine thanks.”
Ryan new better and held out his arms, suggesting a friendly hug. Gabriella was more than happy to oblige and hugged him. Ryan rubbed her back comfortingly.

Gabriella was surprised to find her door unlocked; her flight had just gotten in an hour ago and it was four in the morning.
She found her Mom sitting in the living room waiting for her.
“I thought you might need a hug?” Mrs Montez stood up and walked to her daughter.

“You were so right.” Gabriella said, bursting into tears and hugging her Mom. “I didn’t want to say goodbye!”
Gabriella’s little puppy (which she had named Shadow) came running up to her and licked her leg, as if trying to comfort her too.
Gabriella giggled and picked Shadow up. He immediately began trying to lick her face.
“Quit it!” Gabriella smiled.

Troy, lay in his bed, unable to sleep. He had no-one to talk to and he felt really home-sick. He sighed and rolled over.
Troy picked up his phone and sent Gabriella a text message:-
Hey Baby.
Thinking of u.
Hope u got home OK.
Love You.

Meanwhile, Taylor was sleeping over at Chad’s house as they had a doctor’s appointment the next day. Chad’s parents had accepted the pregnancy just fine and had no problems with Taylor at all.
Taylor suddenly woke up, knowing something had woke her but not quite sure what it was. She sat in silence for a few minutes until she suddenly felt it again.
Chad!” she hissed, shaking her sleeping boyfriend. “Chad! Get up!”
“Wait a minute Tay, I have to catch the train!” Chad mumbled, still asleep.
Chad! This is important!”
Chad blinked and sat up, concerned. “Taylor? What time is it?”
“That’s not important! Chad – the baby kicked!”
“It did?!” Chad was fully awake now and his excitement grew. He placed his hand on Taylor’s growing bump and they sat quiet for a few minutes until Taylor felt something move inside of her.
She gasped and Chad laughed. “That’s my baby!”
“It’s strong!” Taylor giggled. “Just like it’s Daddy.”
Chad kissed Taylor passionately with his hand still on her stomach.
The whole pregnancy hadn’t seemed real to him up until this moment. ‘That’s my baby in there!’ he thought proudly.
